I've seen these swords before someplace, with the ring at the pomel. I was wondering where to go to buy a decent one, both aesthetically and functionally, for cutting stuff up. Thanks

I think Gen2's might be the mightiest of the sub $300 crowd; ask Bill (Tsafa) - he broke one so they sent him another one...don't think he's had any problems since.

Sweet that's the one I was thinking of. I knew I had seen a review before by him, but couldn't find it in the forum review section. Forgot all about the official SBG site reviews. LOL

gman, you might find his review (because he did it so long ago) on his homesite. Hold on, let me get that link: mysite.verizon.net/tsafa1/swordreview.htmI think he stopped posting reviews on this site after a while because the last update I can think of was a few years ago but Bill can of course correct me if I'm wrong.

Never said the G2 was a bad sword pogo, just said wait and see what VA brings out I have the G2 no 500 Brian Brou sword which is a work of art but if gman wants a more authentic and historic looking sword then yes he should wait to see what VA brings out and NO it wont be twice the price

To me that's about twice the price-- unless they bring one out as part of the standard line (I thought this line basically dead) or performance line (doesn't make much sense to me to have it in this line). Have you heard which line they plan to bring it out in?

Unless Valiant Armoury does a irish sword under their revised 'standard' line... then it will be a signature peice. If so, it will be priced in the 450-500 range... but it will come with a very nice scabbard and belt as all the signature swords do. I have not handled the Gen 2 Irish, but I'm a fan of Gen 2 in the sub 300 market. They are one of very few swordmakers that give you a solid cutting sword with a nice appleseed edge that performs right out of the box with no worked needed. I recal our friendly Mod Dan reviwed a Gen 2 Irish Bastard sword awhile back, and it used to be his favorite sword in his collection. I wouldn't mind one, if I had the spare cash... I think its a very interesting looking sword, and pretty light too.

Can't get my head around that pommel...maybe one day it'll appeal to me. Its just a matter of taste... everyone has different likes and dislikes. I LOVE an irish ring pommel, but I know people that don't. I can't stand Kogarasu Maru katana, I think they look aweful, but others love them. To each their own and all that.

LOL that's exactly my sentiments on both of those swords.

I am seriously considering Gen2's Irish sword myself. The only thing I don't really like about it is that "2 part" grip... how it is thinner towards the guard. I just think it looks somewhat funky:)
