Well I hadn't untill 2 dyas ago. We stumbled apon this huge sword while at a friends shop. The wood shop next to his was making a display case for it. I dont have any real info on it other then it appeared to be folded steel and it was huge! The blade wasnt rusty at all but it was polished well enough to see a hamon or not. I thought I could see some layers in the steel but no sign of a hamon. That doesnt mean it's not there though. Kerry is 6'2" and he is the one holding the sword. You get the idea... I didnt bring a camera and I wasn't going to take any pictures then I remembered I had my trusty cell phone...takes ok pics. This has to be one of the more valuable things I have ever held. Wow is all I have to say. A neat supprise for a friday tromp to the city.

Wow... and look at that size of that guard (tsuba) Would be nice (in my opinion) if the blade is twice as wide...but then again it would be a lot heavier

There's only one sword you could fight with that giant katana.

Why is there always an anime guy that throws these historical threads off...?

So injecting a bit of humor into a thread is a bad thing! The temple sword is impressive but has got to be ceremonial, pretty cool find though.

*ahem* The Busted--I mean Buster--Sword is from a video game, not an anime. Let's get our facts straight here. This sword is definitely a presentation piece, highly doubt it ever saw action, but was most likely a case of temple says to smith "we want big sword. Give." smith says "...k."

It's an anime video game....that is a whole other post though. I will have a section on the site with all that stuff soon.

It is not an "anime video game" any more than tetris is a TV series. Vastly different fields to those firmly rooted in one or the other. All the halfassers out there might not know any better, though. (I post all this purely in jest, mind)

Why is there always an anime guy that throws these historical threads off...? Perhaps also somewhat unique in these offerings is to post other examples of the same ilk. Here are but a few and not the picture I was looking for in my files. forums.swordforum.com/showthread.php?t=43975(sorry for anyone feeling left to not accessing such but they appear in threads at myArmoury as well) Cheers Hotspur; I don't have the b&w picture guy in a lab coat and glasses holding a temple swordI was wrong, here is a color print of that shot. japantrip.tripod.com/nodachi/norimitsu.html

Temple decorations and/or offerings to one or another god or gods, typically. Or just a boastful smith with nothing better to do showing off.

It is both an anime sword and a video game sword, the sword was used in final fantasy: advent children which was a CGI anime, so you are both right, but let's not clutter up an awesome thread about a sword that put's sephiroth's to shame and is a real sword with petty argument, even in jest

No, it was a CGI movie. But you're right, less semantics more sword pics.
