Hey guys, I don't know if I'm allowed to post this kinda message here so if I'm not please delete this message.(No hard feelings) So here we go, some of you know I've been doing ito-maki lately, and not to toot my own horn but I think I've got a knack for it. So I'd like to offer my services. I think this would be perfect for all our members with musashi and masahiro and such. So if you've got a katana with a really bad ito wrap job I would love the opportunity to make it better for you now for the dirt cheap part. I'll charge 25$ + material. I can get ito pretty cheap, so I could do pretty much any color for $40 plus shipping (mailing just the tsuka is very cheap). and if you want all new hardware send me a PM and I can get some pricing for you. So anyway if anyone wants to give me a chance and would like to better there loosly wraped tsuka please PM me. My goal isnt to make alot of money. I want to better my skills. oh and BTW, my prices are negotiable. and I can do other stuff too! thanks for reading! p.s. I know other people here offer the same services and I'm sure they do great work. But I'd love the chance to prove myself, and better my skills. check out hiroswords.t35.com/akiko.html

I did a search on all of your posts but have not seen any of your tsukamaki. Maybe I missed out something.
It would be better if you can post clear, close up pictures of some of your tsukamaki, it would help people to acquire the service you offer.

on one, it's 11" overall, leather covers 10" of it. i like real leather that looks like in the picture. if not use faux.
the other tsuka i'll measure later.

Hey man, I gotta agree w/ Aldwin. Try and get a digital camera and take some good pics in ambient light of the work you've done. If your stuff is solid, I'm sure you will get lots of business (if it's anything like the Justice work that's pictured above, you will get busy). You can imagine it's a lot like hiring a babysitter. It's hard to leave you with our babies if we don't know exactly what's going to come out on the other end. Good luck, brother.

You may know this, but you don't really want to polish the habaki on Japanese style swords. Polishing is obviously a destructive restoration and as such removes material, which can make the sword more prone to slip from the saya. Plus, you don't want to give the habaki that artificial "made in China" look. Even tho it probably is made in China . If you must polish it, use something very very mild such as Brasso. Pictures of your tsuka maki work would be great ofcourse. Do you use traditional methods (with the hishigami and glue)? Other than that good luck! Maybe when you get renown I'll send you one of these to work on /index.cgi?board=selling&action=display&thread=11339 . But not that one, it's for sale
