Are planning on making a review?
I used to own the Duncan by marto, pretty, but useless. So i really want to know and see what you think about it.

not with a faux ivory handle we don't *shudder*, do you know how flimsy and badly made those things generally are? You can't even disassemble them.

Ha ha ,ill post some pics ,but I wont be doing some cutting with it .Its classed as battle ready at some vendors but i dont plan on taking a chance especially since I cannot see any Pegs ,so assuming its been epoxied in and without being able to see whats underneath I dont plan on taking any chances .That being said ,it does have a nice looking blade and is well made ,pretty sharp as well .All in all I got it as a display piece ,as im a fan of the highlander series and prefered to have a Carbon steel blade rather than the stainless steel stuff .The handle also looks the part I must say .Looks impressive as a package ,but mine will be staying on the wall ,Im afraid .

they are releasing a new version of the kurgan sword. Hm... will it be disassemble as in the movie? That would be odd, and hard to do I expect.

i know its hard to cut with the faux ivory handles, but a friend here in san antonio bough them and has been testing them in his yard hes starting with milk jugs and said there performing well, but im not sure what his next step is. ive been working on the original movie handles with smooth-on resin and a strong core, i also fashioned a season 1 prop duncan handle... the original handles are VERY thin so i took the larger marto handle and cast it in the smooth-on 320 and added the re-desinged head. i have a local akido master testing the handles with a blade furnished to me by chris over at ronin katana... these have the Bo-hi in it but ive been getting the no bohi blades for later... when the akido master gets everything together he wants to do a cutting video and a sit down to fix any problems... and i did the H2 with a thicker handle...

i love making things like this, i have pics from start to finish, the casting, the manually shaping the dragon head... and the feel of something you made in your own hands... its a beatiful thing! now its nowhere near Sal's musashi but... come on... he is the highlander sword man!

Take a look on the zeistarmories site, for my teardown of the united cutlery duncan... you will get a good idea as to what going on in the handle. There is no peg... there is no screw... I don't trust it for cutting, but that is me... maybe some water jug cutting. But the pics tell all... even Kit Rae contacted me about what was going on inside those sword handles... when and if you go to the site look to the left for "other sword reviews & articles" hopefully soon we will put up Jose Debraga's highlander sword story... it is very interesting to read. thanx mike Ha ha ,ill post some pics ,but I wont be doing some cutting with it .Its classed as battle ready at some vendors but i dont plan on taking a chance especially since I cannot see any Pegs ,so assuming its been epoxied in and without being able to see whats underneath I dont plan on taking any chances .That being said ,it does have a nice looking blade and is well made ,pretty sharp as well .All in all I got it as a display piece ,as im a fan of the highlander series and prefered to have a Carbon steel blade rather than the stainless steel stuff .The handle also looks the part I must say .Looks impressive as a package ,but mine will be staying on the wall ,Im afraid .

This is real dissapointing Why do they call it functional? So i guess i'll have to make my own out with a wooden handle.

heres a review for a united cutlery duncan macleod katana sorry about posting it here couldnt find a review thread
heres the stats 1045 through tempered steel Full tang construction using sharpened high carbon steel. The blade extends to the bottom of the handle, stopping just before the dragon head.
41 1/2 in total length 27 in blade wire brushed hamon handle resin material not removable fittings are very detailed i think there made out of alloy metal pics on next page pros very accurate to the movie its handles very well it has blade no bo-hi it cuts bottles and single mats very well no slippage on the handle cons leather sheath thin blade not d/f all in all i say ist a good buy trueswords has it the cheapest and i would group it with a musashi for the price the quality is very nice on it
