that can make one for this sword: Brian said he's not into this sort so I have to look elsewhere, may have to make it myself.

You could try Dan Dickinson (dand on SBG) - I have seen him state that he can do it. There's also Russ Ellis (www.tritonworks.com) - his prices are more affordable but his waiting list is almost 2 years long I believe (18 months last I checked which was last year sometime) and then of course, there's Christian Fletcher (www.christianfletcher.com) - I think he's probably toward the higher end of the pricing spectrum.
Judging by that sword, you might want to try Christian Fletcher first; he can also make you a suspension rig for it (so could Russ, not sure about Dan).
Nice looking sword, where'd you get it?

I have a little deal for ya... I need practice making scabbards, and because I only have one sword that needs a scabbard, I'd be happy to make this one at cost. Now, be forewarned that I am in no way experienced, or even 'good', but I'd be happy to try my best. Materiels cost about $45 for a finished scabbard, leather wrapped. It would be another $25 for a suspension system with a belt. Mine wouldn't be perfect, it may not have a GREAT fit, just an okay one, and it would have the look of someone who hasn't done it many times, but still puts a lot of thought and care into the project. This one actually looks kind of fun, since the weird blade shape is more difficult to do. Besides, this would give me a chance to handle another FableBlade. And yes, I promise I'd give it back... Just food for thought... -Slayer

Slayer seems to have a good deal for you,it's a good price.Somebody at the other sword forum (Peter Remling) made me a scabbard for one of my Samson swords after I posted the same type of thread you did.He didnt ask for any money but I traded him two axe blades, one small bearded and one large danish I had gotten at a MR sale. If you want to do something different read what I wrote on the Scimitar sheath thread a few from yours. It looks like it would be pretty easy to find something your sword blade is more or less straight.

Why not both? I'm actually eager to make one for that FB, I can already see the design of how it would work in my head... How large is the Zena, and what kind of sword is it? I'm not sure I'd want to make a scabbard for an SLO, but I can't tell what exactly that is... Also, you could take a look at my 'Slayer's Scabbard Project' thread over in the customization forum to see kind of what I'm doing. That scabbard is also for one of Brendan's creations, funnily enough. (funny word, funnily. ;D : At any rate, I'm happy to give it a shot on the FB, and possibly on the Zena. Oh, and if you wondered how I knew Brenno made that li'l beauty... well, let's just say I've got good instincts. ;D -Slayer

Lol, DUH! how could I have misspelled that...? Sounds like a plan, my friend. I'll probably be done with my Garrigal's scabbard by then, so I'll have a bit more experience. So far it's been really fun, actually! Just call me crazy... -Slayer

the other thought that comes to mind "that's a knife!" Looks like a sword length bowie. Did you design it or did Bren?

I make hand carved scabbards for swords and daggers, over 30 years of experience, one of a kind artworks that you can be proud you spent the money on. If you want something as unique as the blade,I'm your man. If you just want something to hold your blade when you're not, check my post on sheath construction. There is also a post of some pics of some old work I carved.

I came up with the design, after staring at so many swords to get ideas...I gave Brendan some pictures and description on what I wanted. It's a cross between a kat/dao/falchion and his Fox Jian, with fulltang showing. He then helped with the little changes in design for the purpose of structural integrity. It took about 10 emails back and forth. The guy is big on making tough blades. It's very much exactly what I wanted. He said it could be made in 1 month but I asked to take all the time needed, and the communication is great. He updated every step of the process with pictures, and then some. This is old/new info: 1.5" across the waist 2" across the belly, and a little more at the peak. 28.5" blade length 9.5" wood grip 40.5" overall length. 3lb 3oz in weight 6" from the uncut holes is the PoB Maybe Brendan can give us the precise specs, and more pics (he took that with the camera phone). He still got some tidy up to do.

My idea for the sheath is to make it out of leather, and basically follow the lines of the sword, and have half of the top open, till just after where the edge drops. Load it in from the top and then fasten it with a couple of straps. It would look more stylish than a full width wood scabbard. Have it in that deep chocolate brown of the blackwood. Though you could immitate this plan in wood. But keep it as a top loader rather than an end loader. The top of the mouth end would have to be cut away to allow it to drop in.

That looks awesome...and now I'm thinking on the cover of the sheath, depiction of mermaid and star. Any ideas?

That's similar to what I had in mind, although the one I've offered to make would be wood with a leather covering. Although, I've thought of quite a few ways to make a full width wooden scabbard look stylish as well. -Slayer

I'm gonna have to keep thedann in mind...
Slayer, you do the damn thing!
Phillip, I'm not surprised...I thought it might be a Brenno work; only reason I didn't was because I thought he made his own scabbards, or at least, could.
