...Seriously. But what the hell, since I posted recent pics of three on another thread--and I do really love my Windlass Horsehead Falcata--I might as well close things out w/ a very old concept drawing of a big two-hander forward-curved blade. Can't vouch for its efficacy in use. 'Cause, well, it's just an imaginary piece. But it'd be fun to commision it someday and try it out.

Ugh. No comments yet. That ugly, huh? (Not that ugly doesn't have its own charms. How about I call it my "Orc sword?" )

Shorten the hanbdle or broaden the blade? LOL 'Cause it's ugly--but not *quite* ugly enough to be charmingly pug?
(*Sigh* It's my miscegenistic cross between a Orc and an Elf ... But what else could one expect from the mind of one of the very few Ukrainian-Filipino-Americans you'll find?)

Hmmmm, I dont know, I just think it would flow better with said mods, being it is on paper, you could draw it out and see. And one of my freinds was part Norse/tie, cool guy....

Reminds me of an old teaching colleague who was Norwegian-Lebanese. Couldn't be much further apart in the gene mix than me--yet, convergent evolution? Students kept asking us if we were brothers.
All at a school that had a large American Indian population--which I was asked to teach at because all my life I've been assumed to be Indian by my looks and somehow thus ended up part of the community.
Then again, I've long been tempted to make up t-shirts that promote the biological value of "Wild-Type Breeding." ;D

I hope to get a real replica of the dreaded reverse bladed Katana!!!!!
Kinda what you have going there......SanMarc.

The reverse blade katana has no historical basis and is just plain stupid when you consider how a katana is made and for what purpose it's spine and blade serve. You'd be better off with a falcata or yatagan or something that was actually designed to properly augment that type of geometry
Comparing the Dacian Falx to a reverse blade katana is like comparing a bugatti veyron to a rickety push cart with a missing wheel!
'Wraith - whoever invented the idea of the damned reverse blade katana should be slapped

Lemal, you should recurve the point so you can thrust with it. The handle on it is too long, even for a two handed weapon.

It is a Japanese Animay sword, Don't you know that your enemy's will shudder at the mere mention of "THE DREADED REVERS KATANA!!!!!" Muhahahah!!!!!! Its a joke in reality, but one of the more realistic Animay swords....SanMarc.

Lol, no goat here san, so you are fine mate. I know the sword is used by Rurouni Kenshin from the Samurai X series and when I was younger I liked the series, now it just annoys me. I wouldn't call it realistic, the buster sword is more realistic IMHO.

There certainly are examples of weapons (some berdiche, nagamaki, etc. etc.) with handles that long; so long as used with different, shifting grip, though I guess many technically consider such as non-swords. Not that I'm saying the above would work either. But that's really the only way to find out: have it made and just plain test it. ("Nothing ruins a good hypothesis like an experiment!") Not on my schedule in any near future, but hey, maybe someday ...

If you admit you have a fetish for forward curved blades, I will admit I have a fetish for s shaped yats

I think I personally would like it more with a shorter handle, but maybe that's just me... I do have an appreciation for forward curved blades... I think they're awesome.

hmm. Reminds me of the Moro panabas, a blade native to the mindanao region of the Phillippines.

That's an interesting design lemal. I don't think it would actually function very well, but I like the look.
