Nice cutting!! They seem to cut both pretty equal. Which one do you like best?

Thanks, the KC is my favorite for overall looks and construction. Truth be told tho the Windlass cuts better and stabs better. It's lighter and has that mainz type blade.

LOL I'm a KC fanboy, Sean. However I feel that to be true to the title that Paul has bestowed upon me, I have to be impartial. I do like the KC best tho, so there! I wouldn't try to cut a hard hat in half with the Windlass.

And using Beck for cutting music, WOW. Never would've of him while choosing a soundtrack.
As always, great cuts!

Also... you said you think its a better thruster as well, why is that?

Sean, it is the shape of the blade that makes it a better cutter, imo. The gladiator is more pointy too giving it the edge in the thrust. It's really just a matter of degree. The KC is a more than capable cutter and thruster in it's own right. It also has the advantage of being the better made sword, more solid and durable. If I had to pick one to carry in battle, it'd be the KC.

The Gladiator performed better than I expected; I had considered getting one of these a while back as a fantasyesque piece. How durable is the handle construction? Also, what is the handle made of?

Ah, there's the rub. The wood grip came a bit loose when I first cut with it, it rotated about 1/8th inch on the tang. It was an easy enough fix as it has a screw on pommel. I used wood filler to fill up any gaps between the grip and tang and make it solid. The hard part with these type construction is getting the pommel line up straight when it's put back together. Here's a review of the Windlass Gladiator.

Ah yes, I actually signed up here trying to find one a while back (the search was screwy and wasn't returning any results). If I get one, I think I would try and change the grip out as a project. Other than that, it looks to be good.

Ric,
I so enjoy watching you cut. In fact you were a bit of my inspiration to start cutting. You seem so comfortable doing it.
I do have one question. Do you sharpen your swords first (or touch them up), or do you use them the way they come sharpened?

Thanks, Tom and Liam.
Thanks, Gaffer. I had never cut anything until I found this site. You should see some of my early vids. ;D I like my swords to come already sharp enough to cut when I can. The KC came wicked sharp tho I've had it a while so I've had occasion to sharpen it. I used KOA's sharpening service on the Windlass, I haven't used it enough to need sharpening. When I do reviews, the videos show the way the sword cuts on arrival unless I state otherwise.
