No. Just...just no.

Too poor of quality? That was my first thought.

To say it is "too poor of quality" is to say a pile of feces on a hot summer day is "displeasing to the olfactory senses."
Frankly, it's a pile of putrid poo.

That's kind of what I figured the general consensus would be, but I just thought I'd check. Thanks for the feedback!

Okay, which sword are you looking at here? I hit the link and am seeing a ? (scratches head) variant of a Shui Dao Chinese sword, that looks like it's ripped from some Song dynasty prints rather than any traditional martial arts weapons for $9.99 opening bid. I know this guy sells some katana and sabers also, but I really don't trust him. (My personal opinion) The site screams "Tourist antique" to me, ie fake junk not even suitable for hanging on a wall. But, hey, I could be wrong. "If it seems to good to be true, it probably is." I think is the folk wisdom that would apply here.

Ha! Don't get caught up man; if its the Dao you're looking at, I suspect it might be wrought iron. I picked up a POS that was marketed as an old short sword, 'blackened' steel. It may as well have been part of a wrought iron display because that was all it was...from tip to pommel.
I'm skeptical of any 'antiqued' or 'old' adjectives used in an advertisement; there's topics here at SBG that deal with the numerous ways that hucksters can make items look older to 'authenticate' them. Damn shame is what it is.
The katana on his site look about the same, cheap.

I never thought it was old, wasn't even hoping it was old. I was just hoping that the material was okay despite terrible presentation.
