It has been a good number of years since I had ever ordered from both of these companies. Both were similar, in that neither sent a followup with tracking and/or backorder information. I had an email reply from Hank himself when asking about just when I might expect the sword. It showed up within a couple of days after that mail exchange. With Atlanta Cutlery, I ended up calling on the phone in inquiry of my order. In that instance, they didn't even know I was waiting because somehow their system at the time regarded a backorder as a default on stopping fullfillment of the other items. They did process and ship the items on hand and did backorder my Patton, which came three months down the road. That one seems like a mover and quite popular, even those several years ago. At any rate, I had placed an internet order over the weekend and did get an immediate confirmation email with a new customer account # and basic invoice. However, here it is Wednesday and I have no idea when or if it shipped. As they are dealing with FEDEX these days, I imagine it will show up in a day or so if processed at the beginning of the week. Heck of a way to get back on their mailing list as well My question is if others have worked with them recently and if tracking information was forwarded to me when shipped? Thanks in advance Hotspur; I almost expected to see it today but wouldn't suprise me if it's not herre until next week (4th on 3rd and all that)

I recently ordered a couple of knives from them, and they sent me no tracking number until I asked them where my order was.

Thanks for the reply. Was the product shipped in a timely manner, despite no tracking info sent? I am actually pretty used to not getting tracking on what could be considered precious to me. I have, more often than not, followed up with antique dealers and have sort of taken that for granted. Even with tracking in hand, I tend to be a worrier anyway.
I was just curious of the status quo as it is now. My first ever AC order was before the internet years and I didn't know the package had been shipped until a neighbor signed for it via UPS.
In consolation of my one backorder situation, they had included a free folding knife with the Patton. One of those nylon Eagle brands, still a nice treat.
Cheers
Hotspur; I'm sure it will probably get here

It got here slightly later than expected, but it was still here in a timely manner.

I ordered from them recently... I never got an tracking info... but the sword did arrive quickly. However, I live only 130 miles from MRL's wharehouse, so speedy delivery is not a surprise. I will say this tho... the sword I ordered was the single best packaged weapon I have ever had shipped to me. This was a single sword, in a HUGE box, surrounded by a veritable fortress of bubblewrap. That was impressive.

I realize now that maybe registering on the site first might show their progess now, as that allows order status. I did just register with their site but that doesn't show the previous activity as probably not connected to the sale on Saturday. I did also notice today that the sword was removed from the site, so that is either a good or bad sign. My espada ropera from them in '99 was removed from the site soon after my order. I saw it on the sample page as well in the rapier section. The price looked right. Cheers Hotspur; time will tell

I did want to follow up on this and an email early 7/2 a reply was speedy and indicated an oder was/is being sent to the warehouse and that shipping would probably be that evening. That is four business days after the internet order and no indication to me that it would actually be selected until they got good and ready to. FEDEX service was terrific in getting it here yesterday afternoon(?) as they had disguised it in a rain/storm bag and left it with some construction swarf near the side door.
Still, there was no generated information to me regarding tracking but, again, it is sometimes the case with antique dealers as well.
The rapier was packed well with a tube and air-packs. The sword itself is terrific. A nice horn grip with the spiraled wire. Well done turk head knots. The brass pommel may get swapped out to a ht air balloon pommel I have that is als 1/4X20 thread. More likely, I will add it to my silver plating projects here.
$109 shipped, such the deal.
Cheers
Hotspur; the basket is steel and if the pommel swap gets the nod, they will probably go blue of brown. Silver for now though I think

Here with a first layer of the pommel silver plating. These first coats have kind of a golden hue in some lighting. The more silver added, the less the brass will shine through. Also, a coarser finish on the brass would show through less in a first application. Here with a composite hilted cut-down period 18th century smallsword blade. They fit together nicely and the MRL offering is a good companion to that piece. Cheers Hotspur; the Silver Secret product is a good bit of fun but takes some practice in observing a learning curve for best results

Yet another update and a pleasant note from MRL customer service. They too have been working on website issues and the system should show now if an item is backordered or out of stock and a notice when shipped with tracking information.
I would also recommend signing up an account, so as to be able to follow the order process more or less (hoopefully) in real time. It can also save time by filling in shipping information when shopping.
Cheers
Hotspur; they do still have some nice stuff in the closeout and samples sections
