It is certainly a fine example Peter. Glorious to see almost entirely the gilt and blue work. There are some notes online I'll dig up at some point from some older threads regarding the French officer practice of a parade sabre to match a field/service sword. Then they would most often have an about town sword in the form of a smaller epee. starstuff Le Hussard and some other european dealers seem to have a never ending market for fine swords. Some of the auction houses (including what turns up at Ebay) can be relative bargains and the economy has put many in circulation. Here is Le Hussard but there are many other similar sites. www.lehussard.fr/english/Here is a fun auction house to watch for all ages and types. www.hermann-historica.deCheers Hotspur; Thanks again Peter for sharing this one. Oh, to have a companion family of a service sword and epee de ville.
