I was trying some other methods to cut the newspapers rolls, and at the end try to cut a 3" diameter with wooden dowel. Not successful.
My student cut a 3" diameter roll with windlass 15th century longsword.

Here is something you might want to try.
Get some grey pipe insulation lagging. It is basically the same as a pool noodle, the density changes depending on the manufacturer. Wrap it in tightly in several layers of newspaper. I do this by lightly taping one sheet of newspaper to the outside and then roll it tightly around the lagging. I then use elastic bands to stop it on unrolling. You dont need many.
It cuts like a pool noodle but can be made denser by adding more newspaper. Its also cheap as hell if you buy the lagging in bulk. One thing I haven't tried yet is lightly spraying the news paper with water. Also there are many types of lagging.
Its Like "Nerf Tatami".

Lancelot, Thanks Again and +1! I always enjoy watching the vids of your test cutting, and these are giving me lots of ideas... Just from curiosity, how much does the Deva Slayer weigh, and where's it's POB?
MrFB- You get +1 too, when I recharge, for the "Nerf Tatami"! ;D
Cheers
