That is a very cool looking sword! I can't tell what you need to know about it. Is there still a contact in Morocco who could help you?

Well, it's a saber. It's very pretty. And you need to do something about the rust on the blade. And I would loosen that nut on the pommel to see what kind of tang it has and how it's connected.

I like it! Though, for the sake of swords everywhere, do take care of that rust.
How good does it feel to hold it? That notch in the grip is interesting.

Yeah, there is that apparent hex nut on the bottom of the pommel that says "modern."

Looks like a firangi...very cool looking sword; more than likely it is modern and as HR says, probably a tourist attraction piece. Still...you like it, that's all that matters. How much did it set you back?

I like it - the shape of the blade as well as the hilts and scabbard. The grip and guard remind me of a horse, and coming from Morocco, I get this immediate picture in my head of a a guy in desert robes on an arabian horse wearing that sword!

You know, looking at it some more...it reminds me of the Assassin's Sword Level 2 from the game, Assassin's Creed...it is the guard that does it for me, its alot like the one in the game.

It's very crude looking.
The hilt is cheaply cast and ground down. The blade profile is poor, and unless it's a trick of the light, the edge bevel appears hastily ground in at a shoddy angle and leaves a ridiculously long ricasso (wherein Middle-Eastern sword, from what I've seen, rarely have much if any of a ricasso).
Edited to add: And is that solder? Where the guard meats the brass throat of the grip, there appears to be massive globs of solder just pouring out of the seam...
Hang her on a wall. I wouldn't even suggest taking her apart, as you might risk accidentally destroying it in the process.

Yes - what Matt said It's a modern made nimcha. Poor execution of an historical design. I have a couple of antique nimcha in my collection. Here's one -
