I'm an honest and forthcoming guy, as much as I would love anything free, it needs to be on the level. And I really would not feel comfortable handling a big, sharp object obtained under those circumstances. Maybe I'm wierd, but I'd be worreid about some kind of universal "balance system" reminding me how I got that sword.

Have you received the sword yet? I wasnt sure from your post if you received it 3 weeks ago or they said they shipped it 3 weeks ago. Did you buy it from abroad or in the UK?
Since you agreed to pay for it they probably can force the transaction through anyway, legally. Well I think they can?

Well its very reassuring to know that we (the sword buying) community are so honest. I had actually emailed the vendor before I posted this thread. however I just wondered what the wider view was. It crossed my mind for about a nono second that If I did not tell the vender they may not realise they had not charged me and I could get a free sword, but then my conscious kicked in.
I figured that
a) I do not like the thought of profiting from some one else's loss. b) Most sword manufactures make very small profits and don’t need to loose money. c) Its probably some guy has made a mistake and I would hate to think that someone lost their job or suffered in some other way because of me. b) I would like to buy other swords from the company. e) it’s a surprisingly small world, particularly in the sword buying community. I would hate to make a bad name for my self
(PS mrfatbucket the sword arrived three weeks ago, they have not debited my credit card for it yet. It was shipped from outside the UK to me. I was not suggesting that one could refuse to pay only, but rather that by inaction on my behalf the vender might not realise that they have not charged me )

It feels good to be a part of this community. KingRat, I had something happen years ago similar, but way different, I found a LOT of money. I wont go into the whole story but it was like the old cartoons where a devil pops up on one shoulder and an angel on the other. Then they both argue the pro's of their position. Just wondering if something like that happened to you, or if I'm the only weird one here . p.s. I did not keep the money.

I can also honestly say that there have been times in my past that the angel lost. Interestingly, it's always the devil that says something first ("That's a mighty fine looking free sword...")! Live and learn.

I don't think it's unusual to be tempted by the allure of "something for nothing". However, people that give in to that are generally the kind of unhappy, unpleasant people that no one wants to hang around with. I believe you end up paying for it one way or another eventually anyway, and usually paying a lot more. Karma works the other way too, do the right thing and it eventually comes back to you.

I voted to contact the vendor but I would wait just a little longer (maybe 2 weeks) before I did. Maybe they just haven't got around to charging you yet. I would hate to see you get a double charge and then have to go through the hassle of having to get a refund put back on your card......Maybe they just haven't gotten to charge you yet......I would think if you never got charged you would feel a little guilty everytime you held the sword and that would take away from the enjoyment of it. Honor and truth all the way......that is the way of a Samurai.

Taking the 'free sword' is theft, plain and simple. Like some of the others have said, they may be thankful enuf for you pointing out their oversight that they find a way to reward you. Even if they don't, doing the right thing should be reward enuf. Gotta look yourself in the eye, my friend. And we've got to look at you too, in a manner of speaking.
