Hello all!
One time I've seen a masterpiece of a katana with instead of a mat habaki a very shiny (gold) habaki. But now I don't know anymore wich katana or forge it was and I'm searching and searching but don't find it. Is there anyone who can help me finding my dreamkatana? Thanks in advance

Any other specs? Because there are many custom mounters who use shiny seppa instead of matte ones.

What did the tsuba look like? Was is a geometric design, waves, flowers, animals? Was it round, square, etc?
Are you looking for a specific katana or just any good katana that meet these specifics?

I need 605,73 Euros. Anyone got 73 cents to start with? I'll take one from 50c and one 20c as well.

If it's just the looks you're after. you could always take the habaki off a sword you've got and polish it to 3000 grit. Kris cutlery has some very beefy brass seppas that's polished , but that would include tsuka or habaki shortening. But of course, nothing like that can compare to the habaki and seppas above, they are built for the blade.

Thanks Kenpachi this is indeed what I'm looking for. ;D Are there also any other forges who're using this mountings? Thanks!!! The habaki shown is a custom made piece by Skip Gardner. It was made from scratch and as such, unique. They are not available on a commercial level. Each is built around and to your individual blade. Skip must have the blade in order to make a proper fit. I am working with Skip to iron out the details on a custom blade now. I also find that particular habaki very nice and am considering one similar on the mount I am having done

Yeah... that Habaki of Skip's is beautiful... I like rounded edges on top, and I like copper instead of the standered brass. VERY nice. Kenpachi: The Habaki on your MAS katana is also VERY stunning... loook forward to the review. Serge: I have a few Oni Forge Katana, and they have a nickle plated habaki, so it's VERY shinny, and silver colored as opposed to brass or copper, which I LOVE. Also, a Kric Cutlery Wakizashi I have has a Iron Habaki... which is a really beautiful and strong look.

Shadowhowler, do you have any pics? None of my own... although I got one of my Oni Forge Katana from our own Marc Ridgeway, my Oni Forge Imperial... and he did a review of it with some VERY nice pictures. /index.cgi?board=swordreviews&action=display&thread=8026&page=1 His reviews always make the sword look so good... I have not been able to duplicate that effect yet. My Camera kung fu is weak. However, his description of the sword is bang on... I love that sword. That sword turned my on to Oni Forge... and I bought two others. I will buy more from what was Oni and is now Kensei in the future... because, for production Katana in the 300 - 500 range I have not seen anything I like quite as much as these. As you can see in the pics, the Imperial has a nickle plated habaki and seppa, it's VERY attractive. I have another one where the tsuba and other fittings are all nickle plated as well, VERY striking.

This is indeed a very nice blade and also nice pictures. I also like marc's insight on all blades. He's a specialist (my own opinion). But after all I'm still looking at the site a saw a blade with these mountings (like on the picture of Kenpachi) but still don't know it yet. But thank you all for this good insights.

That settles it, that Imperial would be an afforadble choice for the OP and falls into his specifications.
