I really liked the movie Troy and have since wanted the sword of Achillies like the one Brad pitt had in the movie.so far all I have seen is the stainless one with the plaque from the noble collection.Accurate to the movie but like the review from right here on the SBG www.sword-buyers-guide.com/achilles-sword.html $195.00 is darn steep for a wall hanger. Anyways I bumped into a web site from a company called Scorpion bows and knives, some pretty cool stuff but a Achilles sword made from 5160 spring steel and darn close to looking like the movie one.well you deceide what you think. I really like the Scorpion king bow also.

I too have wanted to see a functional sword of Achilles. That one looks the most promising yet. You should buy it and do us a review.

man i love that sword , ive also wanted one for some time now. my only worry is how the hilt is held on, i see no rivets or anything , i hope in not just epoxied on, handle looks a lil chunky , but all in all it looks sweet.

Well, at least it has a full tang! ;D There is not a whole lot there to mess up if they have the temper correct!

Leoghen I read a little further and heres what it says about how the hilt is held on. Handle: Scales are Walnut wood and attached with 5 hidden pins and epoxy. If you read the how we make our knives, swords, spears, ect it looks like they take the time to do a decent job. I really like the hand etching too. Has anyone ever heard of this company,as I said I bumped into them by mistake doing another search.

Thanks for posting this. I really like the look of their swords--especially that Alexander sword; I've been wanting a functional sword of that style for some time.
Hmm, going to be getting a bonus in August...?

Well...I like their renditions of movie swords; I used to love the Achilles sword but after having gotten to hold one in-hand, I found that it wasn't what I thought it'd be. In a word, it was ugly, but it was also cheap so that was to be expected.
Such an odd-looking sword.

I'm trying to come up with the cash to pick up the scorpion achilles sword,I think it looks extremly fast and the design makes sense to me having only the top triangular part sharpened.

Wow... they have some nice looking products. They definitely have a unique style. The Achilles sword, to me, kind of looks like a spearhead with handle scales thrown on. I don't mean this in a bad way. It kind of reminds me of maybe some Kratos-like character defeated a mini boss that wielded a giant spear which broke at the end of the fight, and the warrior picked it up and used it as a sword. Kind of an obscure analogy, but hey, that's my brain for ya.

I gotta agree with your wierd analogy of how the achilles sword looks but I have liked that sword since I saw the movie. Gotta say Brad Pit (Achillies) was dam fast with that sword the quick slashes to the Troy soldiers on the beach and the stab to Poagrias neck was pretty darn cool.I wonder if the sword shape has any basis in real Greek armorments or is it fantasy,it's probably more real than the sword from the 300 movie. I really like the falcatta from them also,I guess they are calling it the Falcon sword. traditionalarcherybows.com/My_Homepage_Files/Page57.html

The sword looks real nice but a bronze blade would have been more historically accurate but then nothing about this sword is historically correct. You buy a sword like this just because you like it. They have a video on U-Tube showing it being made but I would like to see one on destructive testing. It is a sharp looking sword and not bad priced for a hand made sword made in the U.S..

Well my birthday is mid August so maybe some subtle hints to the wife (leaving the web page open on the PC day after day) will work. I really dig the movie even Ajax's hammer but the only replica achillies sword that I could ever find has been that horrible one from the Noble collection,so I'm darn happy I found a functional one.

Well my birthday is mid August so maybe some subtle hints to the wife (leaving the web page open on the PC day after day) will work. Ha! That's how I got my Windlass Military Sword/Rapier. The only thing that gives me pause on that Achilles sword is the grip. Looks like it may be a bit thick. I have trouble with those.

I would think he could make the grip a bit thinner,he said he makes them to order,so a bit of customizing should be possible.I have emailed him a few times and he seems like a good guy.Actually I would want the grip to be a darker wood or stained darker to more match the movie sword.
