Do you mean Mtech USA knives? Well their knives are actually manufactured in China. To the knife community, they are known as CCC (Cheap Chinese Cheapo/C**p or something like that)
Some claim that Mtech product is a ripoff from more expensive manufacturers.
The quality of knives range from okay to poor compare to more expensive knives manufacturers (like Spyderco or Benchmade). Truth be told, there are some gem from their products. I bought one of their balisong (butterfly) knives. It is the twist by Darrel Ralph (not sure if he actually sells the designs to them) for about $20 and I did get a real decent knife for the price I pay.
Bottom line is they are cheap and functional. But as they say, you get what you pay for. Just my $.02

I have had over the past five years THIRTEEN different MTech knives. I stopped buying them after the second, but people kept giving them to me, because they knew I was into knives and Mtech do have some interesting looking pieces. The end result is that all thirteen of those knives ended up broken and not because of any testing or cutting, but normal (for me) wear and tear. I'm talking about cutting materials like cellophane packing tape, plastic shrink wrap, plastic strapping, and cardboard. I used these as work knives and sharpened them with an accusharp and they didn't hold up. I refuse to own an MTech anymore, I'll bite the bullet and just buy a d**n Cold Steel Voyager one of these days when I have some money. As for the utility of MTech a person is better off using a dang skillcraft box cutter, those cheap $1 (US) sliding razor knives that come open in the pocket. Those pieces of cr** are an improvement over MTech.

There are some good quality everyday carry (edc) knives around $30. Those that I know of are spyderco tenacious and kershaw skyline. An Mtech at similar price (some look real pretty) are just not worth it.

Actually, I carried a Spyderco Endura for many years until it got stolen, I loved that knife. (This was all some years ago.) The sucker would cut through just about anything. However, serrated blades don't work well on plastic shrink wrap. Given I tend to find work in factories, warehouse, and various shipping positions this is something I have to deal with quite often. So I'm wanting something with a plain edge that's pretty easy to sharpen to paper slicing sharp (yes, this is possible with an accusharp). Currently, I've been using a Kobalt 3" half serrated drop point. But some of the pins have started coming out, so it's time for a new knife anyway. But I repeat MTech USA bites mighty moose c*ck.

Well, Spyderco, Benchmade and Cold Steel are the best ones that come to mind. I'm a CS guy, myself, but all three are reputed to make very nice knives.

Not a big fan of Mtech either.
Personally, I'm a huge Benchmade fan. I've owned several of them over the years and they have never let me down, even under the hardest use. Right now I carry a Benchmade Skirmish with a S30V blade; thing is monster.
Benchmade customer service is top notch too. Never paid for a single part or repair the three times I've needed help.
Add them to your line up and you can count me in next time I'm due for a knife.

I'll have to agree with Slayer and Kthulu. Benchmade, Spyderco, and Cold Steel are pretty much the best stuff out there right now. Schrade, has really gone down in quality since they moved production out of the US. However, Schrade's "Old Timer" series does have a loyal following so would sell well. Buck Knives used to be good but like Schrade have seen a loss in quality in recent years. Rostffrei - Victorinox still do make quality swiss army knives, but ever since the Leatherman multi-tool came out have seen a loss in popularity. Smith and Wesson and Winchester make usable knives that are nothing exceptional, but will at least last for a year or two.
However, if WSS can get me a decent price on a CS 3" Clip Point plain edge Voyager, we really need to talk. If ya can get me a decent price on the CS 13 piece kitchen classics set (plain edge not serrated) my wife might even start letting me buy swords again. ;D
(*wiwingti special translation of post courtesy of Babel Fish*)

Hey, LPBoyle. ;D If you're really interested in good prices on CS stuff, PM me. Don't get me wrrong; I am NOT a vendor, but I do humbly consider myself a master at browsing the InTeRwEbZ to find the best prices on stuff, and my speciality is CS. I've even found the standard CS AK-47 (metal handledkind, normally about $85) for less than $45. ;D So, shoot me a PM, and I'll see what I can do. Oh, and until Wiwingti starts selling CS knives (since he would obviously be the best and favorite choice of who to buy from; great guy!), KoA, while they don't list modern products on their site, have told me that they will match any price you (or in this case, I ) can find on CS items. They aren't perfect, but are definitely in my top 10 vendors of choice. ;D I hope this helps! -Slayer Spelling Edit

Thanks, Marc sent me some links with some decent prices and it is good to know about KoA's price matching policy. I might short you that PM once I have some cash, a series of water pipe problems just wiped me out.

Ouch, man, sorry to hear it. That's one thing in m favor as a teenager; even though I don't have much (any) income, I don't have to use it to pay for normal stuff like food, repairs, etc
I'm always available, though. ;D
