My first blade was a Hanwei PK Elite that I bought from Paul at SBG and I told him I would send some pictures when I finished customizing it. Thought I would go ahead and share them with everyone. A little info. Tsuka Ito is cotton from Shadowofleaves. Menuki are stolen from a Cheness Shura. Fittings are from Artsfeng. No. I'm not at war. I just like it that way. Saya was sanded down to the wood and I was lucky to find some decent grain. After conditioning, I stained with Minwax red oak and sealed with polyurethane. The centerpiece. Multispine stingray. I love it. But what say you? I wanted a little fancier look and I think this tsuba gave it. It is a decent copy of a very nice tsuba I saw in a japanese fittings book that I really liked. The fittings all seem to be of copper, which isn't too bad. Better than some of the zinc stuff out there. Thanks for viewing.

That's a real beauty! The saya is wonderful. Artsfeng fittings are quite decent when used in the right context, in this case it works exellent. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks to everyone. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.
Isn't that same awesome? It's made for boots and is tanned into leather so it is relatively soft given that it amounts to leather with a bunch of rocks on the surface. When I first saw it I knew I'd have to try it out on a kat. I wasn't disappointed.
Stuff is expensive though. $40-50 per piece and each one is barely wide enough to almost do a full wrap. But that would only give the row of nodules on one side, so two it was. The pieces I got had some holes and were not usable for boots so I got a great deal on them. Had to work around the holes. Some are hidden under one of the menuki and the others I filled in with nodes cut out and glued to the tsuka.
Very happy with the turn out and glad others seem to appreciate it too.
