First one is definitely fake. The ito doesn't overlap. See how the folds all go in the same direction? And the fittings look like junk. Also the kissaki has the shinogi ji running straight to the tip, which is improper ( for shinogi zukuri geometry).
Second one is fake as well. The shinogi-ji is horribly uneven, and in the last picture the hamon looks worse then some stainless steel wallhangers I've seen.

Well I let the seller know that whomever sold him the swords took him for a ride and we'll see what the seller says.

I'm not even close to being as knowledgable as some on here, but it was pretty apparent to me the itmes Seco pointed out. #1 kissaki is totally off how they would look, fittings don't look impressive, and maybe I'm wrong but wasn't white same traditional? Interesting though they attempted to make the blade look old and weathered. #2 mountings look rather none traditional, that hamon is horrible, and the polish on the shinogi ji looks really bad too. But I'm still just a beginner at this, so refer to what some of the more experienced have to say.

Man, if some one is trying to pass those off as real........ I'd take a $60 musashi over both of those any day.

The kissaki and fittings are a dead give-a-way that they are indeed Chinese fakes.

Fake.
Everyone, please just do some research before you have to make a new post. It's not hard to tell, and if you are truly stumped, maybe ask something more individual than "Is this Fake", ie. "Is the Tsuba on this Gendaito fake?" or mabye "The shaping of this Kissaki concerns me, am I right in my concerns?"
I think you could have figured this out for yourself Drache.
/rant
Thanks, -Tajima

Well, he's right; there's plenty of info out there on spotting fakes. Anybody even trying to learn a thing or two about Japanese swords should have already found a wealth of such information just with a quick internet search on the subject. That and, really, if it looks worse than Cheness, it's probably not real.

Flaming flames of fire! It's getting warm in here, maybe a little smokey too.
Would y'all like some gasoline with that?

Hmm. I wouldn't say this is going to start a flame war, I'm just annoyed that people can't take the time to do the tiniest bit of research themselves. www.geocities.com/alchemyst/repro.htmRead this, and then come back and tell me you had to post this on SBG. Thanks, -Tajima

i to have asked a similar question but did not receive the harsh responses. is it just the way it was asked. not everybody knows how to find all the info needed unless we ask. with harsh responses it may discourage people from asking. i for one thought we were all here to help one another. please correct me if I'm wrong

We are indeed here to help each other, but I'm not going to help someone that can't help themselves a little.
This thread offers nearly no educational value for other readers, and that is because there are no specifics.
Terry, you may have not recieved harsh responses, but you posted a sword that could have been a genuine item. This is so clearly not...
I like what Random said - "If it looks worse than a Cheness, it's a fake"...
Thanks, -Tajima
