Especially if you use the led scanning Cylon eye gimmick.

I heard a story about a friend of a friend laying a bike down while wareing chainmail, comming home from an SCA event. Could be bulls%&t, but the story went he came out of it fine and the maile saved his ass.

I'd say, depends on what he had under the chainmail...think about all that friction- where's the heat gonna dissipate to? The nearest contact surface that isn't hot...like skin. I could see chainmail in conjunction with plate being very protective...chain by itself? Not so much so, especially if his hauberk was of the butted variety. I can tell you from personal experience, any butted ring is going to open given enough pressure. When heat's added to the mix, it only makes it do so faster.
I guess if he wasn't going too fast, the chain by itself would've protected him, at least til the links opened up or got so hot that it started to burn him.

My metal image was a with a person having something like a gambeson or arming jacket on under the chain. But yeah, just chain over clothes might not be very effective. I wonder what the crash rating of the Chinese Nail Armor I want to get made would be....

LOL just a little play on words for fun.

Liam, Chinese nail armor? That sounds like it'd hurt...both the wearer and the road. lol

Probably. Those nails have sharp pointies....
Seriously, Nail armor is basically a gambeson with metal rivets all through out it, that's all. it was considered a poor man's type of armor. Not much protection but better than nothing.

Yep, that is funny. What did the cops say? I bet all involved got a good laugh. And it is good you have good neighbors who care enough and have the nads enough to get involved and call the law in an effort to help you look after your stuff. FB

I got rid of my 1200 Sporty and bought one of these on Friday (2007 Dyna Super Glide). I added Rush pipes (slash down), a Stage 1 air flow kit, and remapped the EFI. I am using a stock photo, but I'll post an actual picture of the one I got later later. ;D

cool. is it leather based with the rivets then? No cloth based, that's why it was considered poor man's armor. Taran's Mountain Armor would be the upgrade version.
