Very nice, a proud moment. I have to be careful as my 3 yr daughter seems me practicing around with form and such in the back yard and tries to mimic me with a toy bat or something. I have to try and explain that we don't hit people with sticks. But then she sees me sparring with shinai or practical rapier with my buddy. LOL

LOL As the father of a three year old boy, I've had the same problem. My solution was to get some foam rubber swords (don't get the cheap $6 ones from by the pool toys look for Nerf N-force or Mashoonga dueling sabers they last longer) and make a controlled game of sparring with my son. By giving him the outlet of a controlled practice I greatly reduced the amount of uncontrolled swordplay and sneak attacks on the cats. Hope that helps. OP you must be proud, I would be.

Your son did well for his first cutting. Though, tell him to calm down before the cut, he tenses up a bit it seems.

Wow! Thanks for the great responses. Regarding the reply on relaxing before the cut, he caught on to that himself and told me that "when you do it right the blade goes trough with no effort at all." He is 14 years old by-the-way.
