I've noticed a few bitter comments about so called "axe-handles" in threads about production swords, and since I intend to, eventually, try my hand at some customizing, I wanted to get this clarified. I've atleast seen that katana tang have a wide variety of shapes in the stickies. So, is katana handles generally not completely straight/somewhat curved, and can anyone give some information about it?

ideally, the lines of the tsuka should flow with/follow the lines of the blade. Most production word handles are dead straight, which affects how a blade feels, handles.

I prefer a tsuka that both curves with the blade and tapers, but that also has somewhat of an "hourglass" profile.
