Howdy Y'all,
I'm Mitcheru from Holland, and as all other peeps from there know. Purchasing a fine blade without a creditcard or paypal can be pretty hard. Either you go to a official ''Hanwei of Coldsteel'' salesman and break the bank, or you go to these sleezy swordvendors and have to wait AGES 'till you get what you paid for. Since I already am a proud Owner of the Hanwei Taketori Katana, I opted for the latter of the two options.
Introducing, The Forge Folded differentially Hardend 1095 steel Katana. (but lets call it ''my dream katana'' for short )
I ordered my sword a week ago, and it should take another week before I can get my greedy little hands on it.
Here are some pictures, so you can see why I ordered it:
(I hope you can see it, I can't but my P.C. is going haywire)
here is a link for the pictures: it's the first five or six pictures:

(the menuki in the picture is wrong, the real one had prawn like ornaments)
As you ''hopefully'' can see, the sword is made from 1050 core steel wrapped around with 1095 steel, Sanmai style forging, I think. It's clay tempered and water quenched, and it has a REAL hamon. But then again, I'm just reading out the sales pitch.
The thing that really attracted me to this blade were the fittings, I'm a sucker for brown silk ito, and sea themed tsuba and the likes. Real Same doesn't hurt either ;D...
Here are some stats, but as we all know, these are not 100% accurate:
Specifications:
Blade Length: 72cm Kissaki: 4.0~4.2cm
Width:2.4~3.2cm weight: 1100gram.
Tsuka(Handle) Length: 27cm.
Cross section: 6~8mm.
The whole deal was on sale for € 294,44 keeping it *just* below the 300 standard.. How ever, it is in euros, meaning it's a bit more in dollars.
I bought it from katanako.com it's a swordstore I did business with before, so I know what to expect..
I hope to post a review as soon as possible, so I 'll keep you all up to date. Edited** They send it to Holland, and customs kept the order, because it was ''suspicious''.. now it will take another 2 weeks.. **
But for now, I was hoping to get some reactions outta you guys!
Anythoughts?
