Hey I have a question about this sword I recently purchased of a ebay store by the name of dgspirit which is based in Hong Kong. "This Japanese blade is made of high carbon AISI 1060 steel. It is 100 percent hand forged. Tempered blade and water quenched. Traditional hand sharpened edge can cut off 3 bamboos in one strike. Real shark skin samegawa and cotton tsukamaki. Mixed metal tsuba, fuchi and kashira and menuki. Wood saya and kurigata. This battle ready sword is suitable for iaido and kendo superior. If you win this sword, we will send you a free sword bag."
"Notice: This blade is sharpened through the traditional 12 process hand sharpening work."As listed it says its made out of high carbon 1060 steel/full tang and all of that, but this is my first sword and I would really like to ask the experts on this! (Or if I should just throw it out when it arrives at my door) Thanks a bunch!

I've seen them on Ebay before... but have no first hand experince with their swords. I for one am glad you bought it (selfishly) because now when you get it you can tell us about it... and show pics! However, my personal opinion is, it's not likely to impress... they have not impressed me enough to get my money yet... but ya never know, without taking risks it's harder to find rewards. Good luck man

Eh...
I've had 3 slos... erm ..swords from this seller... in one of their guises...
One of them was given to a young boy, as it was absolutely dull ... and assembled with a threaded tang and a nut...
One of them was good enough for me to sell without guilt... barely... and then only for $50 or so...
The other I had to keep. Cheap zinc oxide fittings a tsuba...all loose... loose in the saya... loose ito... thin same you could read a newspaper through... secondary bevel... fake hamon... cracked tsuka... NO temper.. it bent into a SPECTACULAR s -shape on some rolled up newspaper.
Everything you could imagine that could be wrong with it , was...
Toss it out? Nah...
I still have mine... stashed in some dark corner. What use was it? Well someone liked the tsuba (no idea why ) and bought it for $15. A friend needed a habaki, and I gave him the one off this sword. ... I used the blade to practice polishing, and etching, and the tsuka to practice maki....
It also serves as an object lesson... NOT to buy from these types of sellers...
Good luck... I'm sure yours will be better than mine... question is, how much better?
