No offense Bren, but that is the most phallic looking scabbard I have ever seen! I mean, great work but... wow!

Yeah, now that you mention it...see, I could have done without that observation, now all I see is a semprini when I look at it.

Sorry guys, was just stating it as I see it, doesn't detract from how great the scabbard looks, not in my opinion anyway.

Dammit Troy you've gone n' wrecked it for everyone now. No it's true. The brief was to have some ridges 5" apart so as to enable it to lock into the frog for safety. And the main place I could take meat off was the top, and I wanted to belnd that down th sides. And yup, thats how it ended up. It was buggin me too, so I put those extra fullers in the end there to help blend out the *ahem* aesthetic. Any other ideas?

Sorry Brendan, I didn't mean to wreck your scabbard, and you spent so long on it.
Quite frankly I'm not sure how the frogs are going to work on this one, depending on the type of frogs (where they are buckle frogs, slip frogs or attached frogs) it will either work superbly or it will epically fail. If using buckle frogs you could cut runnels in which the frog straps can sit.

Geez Louise BW...I hadn't quite made that connection til you said so. LOL
Bren, still, nice work. You can think of it as a Roman motif...they practically revered the phallic symbol.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with symbols of a phallic nature, far from it, many cultures revere, some even worship the symbol of the phallus.

Wow... why is it that seemingly every thread I start turns towards an *ahem* interesting subject matter? LOL. HOWEVER, on a more serious note, that is an absolutely beautiful scabbard. The ridges/fuller/thingy isn't what I had envisioned, but will actually work BETTER than what I had thought of. Due to the placement of the shallowed area, it wouldn't really work with frogs 1 or 2 now. So, in place of that, I'm going to go with frog #3 and then possibly also get a tactical scabbard made to hang in my ideal position by this guy: www.rivercitysheaths.com/ . After all, this way I'd have the best of both worlds. On one hand, a wonderful work of art to go with the FTW, and perfect for use at renfaires or anywhere esle that I'd like to look 'authentic'. On the other hand, a scabbard for normal use that I wouldn't have to worry about getting scratched or dinged during use, since the heavy-duty plasic would never be as valuable as a FB scabbard to me. One for looks and use, and one for when I don't want to worry about damaging 'my preciousssss...' ;D Good idea? -Slayer

If you are anything like me your blade will spend more time out of the sheath/scabbard to stop it from rusting or from gathering moisture which damages both blade and sheath.
Are you still planning on wearing it in a point down carry behind your back or did we talk some sense into you about the difficulty of drawing from that position?

I like the scabbard. I showed it to my wife and she got a gleam in her eyes, a quirky smile, and said that's some nice "wood" I'm not sure what she meant ;D
