VERY nice! I'm wanting to add a Scimitar/Shamshir to my collection... thus far my only viable options have been the Windlass Scimitar and the Cold Steel Shamshir... which are basicly the same weapon. My wife laughed her ass off when she informed me that the word 'Shamshir' is basicly just Persian for 'Sword'. Go figure. Not enough of these style swords out there, IMO.

Not enough of these style swords out there, IMO. Tell, me about it. Although my wife did find a sharpened version of Hanwei's entry into the category for a very reasonable price, at www.bellydanceprops.com Go figure. Anyway, beautiful work Sam.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it! Glad you like it, it is a very underrepresented blade style, something which I hope to change. I was corrected, the proper term for this sword would be a kilij, due to the bulb on the handle. www.oriental-arms.co.il/item.php?id=3471

You know, I love the blade shape...been loving it for some time now; but I can't get my head around the end of the grip...but this is a nice sword overall Sam, good stuff.

Thanks EP. If you held the sword you would change your opinion of the grip in a heartbeat.

Wow.... I am impressed! I normally expect great swords (Not great swords as in a "great-sword") from you, but this one is just fantastic! +1 for you.

Nice sword, Sam. I'd personally like to see a wee bit steeper curve were it mine but nevertheless, very nice.
I do quite like the grips.

Thanks guys!
Random, this one was sort of a "whatever happens happens" sort of sword when I made it, so it is what it is. I don't much care performance wise for the swords that have almost a 90 degree difference between base and tip, too curvy for me hehe. I like a point I can lead with, flick, thrust if need to.

You should do up a heavier/wider version. Somethin' more to be used in the 1200-1300 era 'gainst chainmail. they made those, yes? Basically a similar blade shape with less curve and wider blade? Make one of those and damn.... (this one is QUITE nice as well!)

YES! Maybe with a hooked pommel like a Falcata... I'd buy one in a sec. Also, if you got the movie handy, the Saracens use the exact kind of sword in Kingdom of Heaven. While not the most accurate movie, that's the kind of sword I'd love to see. Just keep that rattling around in your head...

I like it a lot. The curvature back on itself reminds me of the Arwin blade, which I totally dig. That hilt is interesting too, nice work all around.
