Yes that looks pretty darn sweet. The black rayskin with the contrast of purple looks really nice.

was the wrap a special order item? and how would you say these swords compare to the kaze?

Is there only one mekugi placement on this tsuka ?? I can see the one next to the tsuba but because of the black same, can't make out if there is another sneaky one up the back ??

chopchop, I just got it today and I think the other one is under the wrap, I could be wrong though, but I feel an indention just below the menuki. Jason, nope not custom, check out Brians website, www.roninswords.com , you get your pick of ito colors, sageo colors, and white or black same when you order one of his swords. That was what made the deal for me. Its a good step up in fitting quality to the Kaze IMHO (better ito, better tsuka, better koshirae), and the blade is beautiful, good polish and everything, the only problem with it was the Kissaki, which looks a lil rough, but for $300, its a great deal, and it only took from date of payment, 3 weeks for me to receive it. It also handles beautifully, and the wrapping is the tightest I have seen.

did you get this beast yet, anesvick? Yes, I got it, pictures don't do it justice. Brian does nice work, and its a far better value for under $300 than any hanwei or cheness blade out there (I do prefer Cheness 9260 steel but he has GOT to work on the tsukas, two swords, 2 cracked cores is too much, Brian is redoing the core and ito on my shura right now.) The core is fit perfectly, the fuchi wiggled a little, but a piece of rice paper fixed that. the stock ronin fittings are very nice IMHO. The blade is differentially hardened, no acid enhancing on the hamon and it doesn't need it. The kissaki is a little rough, but still better than my shura (they at least polished it on the ronin). It cuts better than the shura for light targets, but my skills are lacking for heavier targets right now, and I don't want to bend it. The Saya is one of the best fit I have seen, you can tell Brian is a practitioner of JSA, due to the fact that its usable out of the box. The sageo is silk and very nicely tied. good finish too, not cheap piano lacquer like cheness. I would order one now though, I'm sure Brian is going to raise his prices soon, he stated to me that he is taking a loss on these to get his name out.
