I've been considering getting a korambit, either this one; or this one; Best of all the company is in Australia and the prices on their stuff is ridiculously low for a good product.

I often toyed with getting that first one to keep on me. Never bothered, though, since the design of the korambit was never one of my favorites no matter how hard I tried to make it. That one is a very pretty knife, though.

About that medival fighting with daggers, what you have to keep in mind is that a lot of daggers didn't have sharp edges and were only made for thrusting. Especially if you want to break through armour, it's better to use a dagger in the overhanded grip. In medival fighting manuals you almost only see them atacking with an overhanded stab. They also often grip the dagger by the blade, which is impossible to do if the blade has sharp edges. Same goes for swords by the way. The half- swording is done with gloves or dull swords, called 'Bohrschwerter'. When fighting against armoured opponents, your sword doesn't need to be sharp it needs to have a good point for thrusting into the gabs in thr armour.

Blood, those are really REALLY pretty. Wish we could see more korambits with double edges so that you can have another option for grip extensions. I've seen practitioners do so real nasty things with a double edged (blunted, of course).

The Valiant Co. korambits aren't just pretty, they're fairly cheap. Check 'em out on the bottom half of this page: www.valiantco.com/sumatra2.htmlThe first one he posted is a meager $85 Australian. Not bad at all, I say. The "Standard Korambit" may be to your liking. Rather like the "Horn Korambit," myself.
