Blackwooooood....blackwooooood. It's haunting cry is reaching into your soul, Brendan! Heed it's warning else terrible things befall you! Wood this stuff do? It's an Aussie type of blackwood. Not sure exactly what though. It's quite purple raw cut, but it loses that a bit when oiled.

How is it to work Bren? Often the way a wood works is indication of species and viability.

I havent done much with it yet. It feels like Jarrah so far. Similar hardness and weight.

oh so you just take the grinder to shaping the bar stock, i see. is that ok to remove the material? will it heat up too much and make the metal weak? or does it not matter when you shove it in the forge and heat treat it and all that?
