Heres a question. I got mine today and one of the first things I noticed is that I can only get like three and a half fingers between the kurikata and the saya mouth. Leaving most of my pointer finger just hanging out. Does the kurikata seem to close to the end of the saya for anyone else?

Polish is a bit wavy. I usually like to have the kurikata at least an inch further back. I like it so I can put my hand between the tusba and kurikata when sheathed. I can't do that. If I put my hand there it pushes the sword 1/4 inch. and thats with the bottom of my palm overlapping it. (kurikata)

Very nice review Marc. I saw that you noted the lack of a hamon as a Con to the sword. Would you prefer it had a fake hamon or do you wish it was differentially tempered? Just curious. Thanks and great pics as always!

I was going to compliment the watch, too. I'm glad I'm not alone in wondering how noto et cetera is affected by the...hump...thing. Marc?

Ha , Thanks .... I have MANY watches... this one is one of my favorites....
I'm not a big iai guy... but of course noto is universal everyone has to resheath, right ... Noto , like so many things , is variable depending on the art you practice... but to tell the truth, I do not practice or train like I should these days...too much going on in my life...
with small adjustments that ugly ass hump is almost a fail safe for noto...almost like cheating...
Mr Werner... no I am quite happy that there is no faux hamon... and at this point in my life, I'm really over hamon... and don't really care about DH either... but much of the buying public does.... ergo my listing it as a con.... to tell the truth.. I was grasping for cons....

OK , let me clarify... while I still love a beautiful hamon, that is the result of care and control by a master smith... at this point I just don't care about hamon for hamon's sake.... A production sword need not have hamon, to interest me... Needless to say, I wouldn't want to buy a TH custom katana....

That's better; I figured that's what you meant. Just giving grief. So, think you'll be performing surgery on this thing?

Don't know if I will... I considering selling it, or maybe stealing the fittings... I may give it as a present...
I may also give it a circumcision... LOL
Just haven't decided yet....

I don't see why everyone is so against the odd mune shape? I kinda like it, makes it stand out more from other production katana. The mune has actually increased my interest in this blade. Very unique design, I love it!
Oh, and great review by the way! You wouldn't mind posting some cutting vids of it? I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to see this blade in action...

I'm most concerned that it might pose an obstruction to general use and a threat to user and hardware. Not to mention it looks eager to snap off on a bad tip cut... Oh and it's just ugly as sin, anyway.

At the risk of angering Marc by speaking for him... Marc does not make cutting videos. It's a personal choice for him... involving how he feels about training and his sensei's feelings on the matter as well. My Raptor cuts very well, and Marc says his does also... trust me when I tell you if Marc says it, you can take that to the bank. I have learned to trust what Marc says about katana without hesitation... more to the point, I trust MARC without hesitation, and not just when it comes to katana. Maybe I'll borrow/snag his sword and do some video with it... if it survives my god aweful form without damage, then you KNOW it's a tough sword.

Wow ... thanks for the [glow=green,2,300]GLOWING[/glow] reference Sean... but you better cool it, my girl is starting to get suspicious ;D Yes, I do not do video. Its just not my way...sorry for the inconvienence it may cause anyone. Believe me, If I spent $266 on a sword that wouldn't cut, I'd darn sure tell everyone...
