glad you like your sword ecovolo, id say that was a solid review, thanks +1, i do like a good cutting video though photos prove the point. Thanks . When I get a camera that can record video, I'll attempt to post one. Then, everyone can see my crappy kenjutsu form in all its glory. ;D i think those menuki are called like 'amazing spiderman menuki' lol, i came accross them during some recent searching. LOL You know, I think that appellation applies-- it *does* look like a menuki based on Spiderman ;D. +1 Karma for a good, and somewhat insightful, laugh. --Edward

cracked tsuka are def not unique to cheness i have an oni forge that arrived with a cracked tsuka fortunately loren offered to trade it out with another for me which is awesome since that line is discontinued
secondly the tsuba... those cirlces of holes are supposed be flowers most of the time i see them listed as sakura or cherry blossoms but with the word for lily in the name maybe they're supposed to be lilies... anyways point is those lil groups of holes are flower blossoms

Hey Eco I posted my own thread but here are a few upgrades to the Oniyuri katana and my tsuka was fine.

I have one question about the long tsuka. Is it feel akward compare to standard 11 inches version ? I imagine in some stance or scenario this long tsuka might come in contact with your stomach or rib cage ? Surprisingly enough, the tsuka wasn't awkward at all-- if anything, the longer tsuka allowed for more maneuverability. Per the katas I practiced, the tsuka didn't come into contact with my torso. I'll admit that I don't have great knowledge of different types of Japanese sword arts, but I'm going to guess that unless the wielder has unusually short arms, the long tsuka shouldn't be a problem for most. --Edward I had bad experience with one of those early Musashi style katana with 32inches blade and 14 inches tsuka ,it was so akward for me to wield that I had difficutly cutting soft target with it so it make me dislike (or worry )about 14 inches tsuka get in the way . Your review kind of change my mind a bit and I will give this long tsuka a try next time.

Oni = demon Yuri = Lily An excellent review! and just when I have been looking more at this blade. 鬼 Oni = ~Demon 百合 Yuri = Lily However, 鬼百合 = Tiger Lily Thanks a ton for the review! Learned a lot . I already have a Cheness, and it's just a slightly above average sword, and I realize that I'm really not a fan of the beefy stuff. I'm not all that muscular!
