Thanks, Bill, it's a different kind of blade than I'm used to, I like it!
Thanks, Chad. It is a good looking sword, I agree.

As I understand it it was a dueling style and if memory serves correctly it is venetian (italian) in origin.

Ric: NICE...and you have a great wife too; any wife who indulges her man's hobbies is a Queen in my book. Y'see, they UNDERSTAND. Priceless.

You sold me. $117 on sale now. www.museumreplicas.com/p-256-military-sword-rapier.aspxYour review made all the difference. Edit: are both sides of the blade suitable for sharpening on this sword? Or is it designed as a backsword? Did you weight it yourself Rick at 2 lb 4oz? At that weight a POB of 5" down the guard should be perfect to make a good cut. How is the distal taper on that sword?

Thanks, Bill, it's a nice sword, I was just out yesterday cutting with it. Both edges on the blade are sharp, I actually cut with the top edge in the video once I think and have done so several times. I get the weight at 2 1/2 lbs on my bathroom scale tho it could be a bit lighter. There is no noticeable distal taper on this blade. I'd say it's a bargain at that price.
