Makadona: Are you talking to me or are you talking to trevor?
Being rooted means you are 10x more likely to get hit, and actually if you know your body mechanics well enough then movement should not equal a lack of power, in fact it should mean that you hit harder because you are moving properly. Wushu serves the function it is meant to serve. Do you think that shaolin kung fu is flashy and impractical? There is no reason an art can't look "pretty" and be effective, in fact being an art there should be a certain amount of gracefulness involved.
Black uniforms are the traditional colour worn by students. Jumping is also a rather stupid thing to do, any time you lose contact with the ground you provide your enemy a weakness they can exploit.

This might turn out into pages of debate but we just have different schools of thought and form. My art is a horse based art, so we're very rooted and only use motions that are necessary. Yours is a different school of thought, so I can see why we have a different in opinion. But what works for me might not work for and what works for you might not work for me, this is why there are so many different arts. My art is exactly what I should be in because I'm a big guy, 6 foot 4 inches, so doing agile moves or extreme amounts of speed wouldn't maximize on my body type. There's another san soo demo that was on youtube that I videotaped that was taken down, I'll see if I can get my brother to get it back up. But this other one shows a much broader perspective of the art. I'm not a fan of that jump either but again it works for him and I'm not going to criticize sifu dave hopkins who grew up in riverside when cops were scared shitless of it, so he knows what works and what doesn't. But I hope you saw the rest of the video...

There is also the Jow Ga school. Geared toward many opponents.
The idea is 1 strike, 1 kill/cripple/otherwise out of the fight. Jump on a guy to hit him? Why? Break his knee and go on to the next guy.
Very fast, very precise, very conserving of energy. Not really very useful for a bar fight. Too likely to send a person to the hospital...
