Those first three swords all say "carbon steel" in the add but not "high carbon steel". Big difference. I suspect that for those prices they're probably not very good quality.
The 300 movie swords don't look anything like an historical spartan sword but they sure are pretty.
The one Brian posted certainly looks much better, though it may be more than you want to spend.

Yeah I have that and it feels quite sturdy but even though I couldn't get the handle off to check the whole tang (glued) the threaded end is quite tiny. Less than 1/4 inch. It cuts nicely though due to the foreward balance for a short sword. Swings quite a bit like a machette.

Even ad copy claiming high carbon means nothing unless they give you a specific steel type. Quite simply, any steel with more than .3% carbon is "high carbon steel". That is af if it were an asi 1030 number. More seem to use it to distinguish it from high chromium (stainless) steels, which also often qualify as high carbon steels.
It is a much easier concept to simply understand that there really isn't such a thing as a free lunch and those eating mystery meat have no idea what is being served. It might be inexpensive and taste good but just what exactly is it?
Cheers
Hotspur; lets serve some fries with that

Is there any archaeological evidence that that funky sword was used?
The only Greek swords I have seen in museums are bronze leafblades.

the first is 34in over all compared to 30 and 26 that along with the appearance leads me to believe it is the same sword or close to the same sword Budk is selling for $25 without a sheath... Which I own, I got it simply as a cheap display piece with no thoughts of having a functional sword...Don't like the style quite enough to shell out more for a better copy...really it's better than I expected and I'm even thinking of sharpening it up but it is the only two-handed Spartan sword that I've ever seen...it's huge.

Luka, those are amazing photos. Karma for posting them.
I did not know ancient Greek swords were so diverse in style. I should have known better.
By chance, do you have any photos of Byzantine Swords?

Thank you tsafa. Unfortunately I don't have anything Byzantine, I took these pictures on a school trip to Greece, and we visited only museums with ancient artifacts in Delphi, Mycenae and some others...

Yeah, OP if you want it to sit there and look cool, get the cheapos. But if you want to be able to actually destroy things with it, go with the Windlass one. They're inexpensive, and well-made. Windlass FTW!

I would imagine that the op has probably already made a decision, since he posted this question 2 1/2 years ago
