knifestock has 3 in stock for 780€ They have the best prices for CS stuff, but might be not wholly truthful in their stock count. They are generally OK if slow sometimes. Been waiting for my CS Bowie forever....

Ooooo. Nice Thanks Andi Yeah, if that one is 35.5” at just over two pounds, I’m impressed. Is that a pinned and peened hilt? Uh oh. Even at an Albion price, I’m super tempted. Update www.coldsteel.com/chinese-saber/$800 in the US. So available at Squire Line/DSA prices. Oh no!! I THOUGHT I didn’t need any more swords.. So, I got the last one from KoA so mine was only $420 shipped, it is a blemished model, so it will have something wrong somewhere but usually minor cosmetic, but at that price I think it is worth it, I should have it Wednesday or Thursday next week alongside my LK Chen Yang Ling dao. So, I wish it was a peened pommel, but it is according to KoA, a pommel nut. While not a deal breaker, the DF ones were also pommel nut construction.

Afaik Huanuo makes swords for DF and CS, at least they made them years ago. So I assume this is made by Huanuo. The Huanuo Manchu Prince Dao seems to be the same sword as the Manchurian Dao from DF. There is also the expensive Beile Dao from Hanwei (Beile was a Manchu Lord), perhaps a yanmaodao, not a liuyedao, but not something completely different.

So, I managed to get my grubby paws on a CS willow leaf. My first impression is very favorable. It is a nicely handling full size saber.
The weight is very manageable, though imho the forte is still a bit thin and the foible is too thick. There is some distal taper, but the foible is mostly lightened by way of a broadly ground false edge. The false edge ends before the tip, resulting in what is often optimistically called a reinforced tip.
The grip is nice and grippy, inspiring confidence in motion.
This looks and feels like quite a nice cut oriented saber, especially for under five hundred bucks. At the thousand dollar mark, I’d still go with an Albion or an antique, though.

I was hoping LK chen would of came out with one of these, but a las they have not yet. So, what is the next best thing out there? I'd like it if someone has links or pictures to anything available. Hello everyone, In our training group we faced the same problem a few years ago and turned to the Hungarian swordsmith Viktor Berbekucz to make us practice sabres for full contact training. The blacksmith has a lot of experience with blades for Buhurt / Battle of Nations and was therefore our first choice. As it is a training sabre, we had it made a little heavier than the original, as was customary for training weapons in Bagua Zhang. Of course you can also ask Viktor to add a fuller to reduce the weight and you can also have it delivered sharp. The customer service was extremely friendly and helpful. Attached are a few pictures and statistics. Here is the link: Link to Viktors homepage
