cold chisels are not single ground like wood chisels are probably this is the fancy way of saying intentional secondary bevel Given that many XVIIIc's (and some falchions and XIII\a\b's) are practically filet-knife thin (slight exaggeration) at, or just beyond, the CoP, a secondary edge bevel would make sense where durability is concerned. Thanks for clarifying. I misunderstood what Albion's write-up was trying to convey. My EDC is an Emerson CQC-7, which is chisel-ground, with a one-sided chisel edge grind, hence my confusion. Additionally, I remember seeing a few Rondel daggers that had a parallelogram cross-section with chisel edge grinds, so the practice in that era was not unheard-of.

single grind is often used on woodworking knives as well it is especially good on folders that need to sit flat on the handle e.g. Schrade Simon
