I've noticed that quite a few folks in the sword community are (like myself) also very fond of cats. Is there a connection? Enjoying graceful elegant things that can also shred your flesh, maybe?

I Hate cats and support cultures that consume them I heard of cultures that eat dog but never heard of eating cat. Suppose if your hungry enough you'll eat anything...including human.

I like cats, far better than dogs. Me too. Cleaner, less hassle, but if you have enough time and space a dog can be great, and they can serve many more functions, aside from the cats job of mouse catching.

As for me, I like cats more than people. Cat's are buttholes, but at least they are honest about it.
I wonder if weapons collectors are an equivalent to the "crazy catlady".

I always viewed swords as symbols of freedom, the same as pistols: You can kill a man carrying a sidearm, but you can't force him into slavery if he doesn't wish it.
Cats retain their skills and their armament, and while many choose comfort and companionship, very few are "domesticated". Given half a chance, even prissy fat cats can survive alone in a rough world.
There are many fine working dogs, and a few free dogs, but generally dogs are enslaved in some manner, whether by inbred incompetence, poor living conditions, or rotten location: Most would get into trouble quickly without their keeper's assistance.
I have two dogs, I love them. I also live with five cats, who love me, despite me being such a benighted, uncivilized ape.

After my dog saw that HALO jump dog, he’s lookin’ at me like, “I KNOW you’re not gonna tell me you’re too tired for dog park tonight.”

After my dog saw that HALO jump dog, he’s lookin’ at me like, “I KNOW you’re not gonna tell me you’re too tired for dog park tonight.” lol Here's a video of a dog being jumped for the first time.
I have been unable to find a copy of the original infamous cat zero g test at Edwards AFB in the 1960s. The cat (a friendly hangar dweller, fed by ground crews) was carried unrestrained on the lap of an F-104 pilot. As soon as the aircraft went into free fall, the suddenly floating cat went batshit, managing to make its way back to the pilot. It clung to his chest, caterwauling, while he attempted unsuccessfully to slap it away. As soon as weight returned, the cat hid behind the ejection seat for the rest of the flight. After landing, the cat escaped immediately as soon as the canopy opened, and was never seen around Flight Test again.
In lieu of that, here's some examples of cats floating terrified in larger aircraft. I feel that they'll never make astronauts or parachutists.

The cat will only do what it feels like doing, there are cats who love riding motorbike, most don't. Can't tell a cat to do a jump when it does not want to, gotta find one that does. Mine for example likes to put on helmets.
BTW I doubt humans would react any different to the cats in zeroG if you put them there without warning...

FTR, I have both cats and dogs (who all get along very well). Everybody has their particular functions. It's a farm, after all.
