Lets hope it works! Both items should have the same tax identification number, so should be OK. Unless they need to know how much shipping alone was, since it is taxed differently or something. Keep at it, it's better to ask too often than not being informed that something is still missing. Good luck though! Still no word yet. Parcelforce state that they endeavor to respond within 5 working days, but they are quite backlogged at the moment. My primary concern is where the c160 form states "we require proof of a commercial invoice, or other evidence that shows full value or description of goods." Since I made the payment via a Paypal money request, there is no description of what the transaction was for, just the total amount, which included shipping and insurance. I suppose that means that at the very least, I will get charged a higher amount of VAT. I don't really mind that, so long as I get the sword!
If anyone is curious, this is the sword in question.

Some good news at last. Customs finally cleared the package today, once I'd provided a basic description of the sword and its dimensions. Last week they reached out to me stating that the sender had used a different commodity code to the one I had given them, which probably caused a bit of a delay. Since he'd listed the contents as "wall hangings" I assume it was an attempt to avoid drawing attention to the fact that the package contained a sword. Hopefully, I will be able to pay the customs charge tomorrow, and if I'm lucky, I might even get my hands on the sword this week, which will make a rather nice Christmas present for me. In total, the sword has spent 27 days in transit so far. I first reached out to the seller in September, so it's been quite a long process!
Fingers crossed nothing goes wrong at the final hurdle.

What commodity code satisfied them? It might be useful info for individuals wanting to send/bring (legal and legitimate) swords to the UK in the future. Also, thanks for the information so far. I was previously left with the impression that sending swords to the UK was basically impossible. It’s good to know that isn’t necessarily true.

According to the tracker, the package is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.

The actual HTS code for for a functional sword....I wonder if there is something better that would reflect the antique nature of the piece rather than emphasize it as a weapon.

Today the tracker updated to state "awaiting customs charges" despite the fact that I already paid those yesterday. I called customer service, and he told me I paid so quickly it caused a bit of confusion in the system. He says the package should be delivered tomorrow now, instead. They do know how to tease!

Well, it was a long and stressful journey, but there you go. The dagger has quite a bit of rust, the sword has a few small spots, but nothing serious. I should be able to clean up both fairly easily. Overall, I'm very happy. She's a nimble sword.

They're Arms-n-Armor.

Yowsa! Great looking set.
Glad they made it to you safe and sound. Also good to know the UK isn’t entirely closed to the sword trade.

Wow, these are antiques? They look to be in great shape! The sword is an Arms & Armor custom, based upon one salvaged from the Mary Rose, which sank in 1545. The grip length was actually mislisted on the Arms&Armor website at 4.6 inches. It's actually an inch shorter than that. I haven't had much opportunity to train with it at the moment, but my forefinger was rubbing a bit against the bars with certain movements. I'm just a smidge under 6'1, and have average sized hands for my height. I doubt it would be an issue with gloves, or when handled for brief periods, but for anyone with larger than average hands, I can imagine it might become quite uncomfortable after a while. I can still point the sword perfectly straight as George Silver outlines in Brief Instructions, with the pommel resting partially in the hollow of my palm, and the thumb extended beyond the basket alongside the blade, but there's no room to lay my thumb on top of the grip, as some might prefer.
The dagger appears to be based upon one on display in the Castle Museum in York. I believe it was made by Darkwood Armory, but I'm not certain.
