Read some of the Jkoo reviews on this site to get a better feel for them. Hard to trust reviews from Chinese sites. Half of them are written by the seller. The other few are written by people who have no idea. MUCH better to get advice from people here, or YT like Jensen (who generally know their way around swords). The only thing to trust is that universal truth ; "You get what you pay for..." As long as you keep that in mind and manage your expectations accordingly go for it.

I always tell people unless you want to spend over $2k it's a bit of a crapshoot.

Matthew definitely has a couple of JKOO reviews, so does Katana Karl on youtube, in fact if you are looing for video reviews, he probably has the most JKOO video reviews posted. Robert in California also has a wide variety of JKOO reviews listed here that were instrumental in me deciding to give them a shot. I own three myself now (technically 2 but that's another story I plan on sharing in a future video review)

I am embarrassingly slow in completing a review on my new Jkoo katana...been doing SkyRim LE gaming since I have Windows7 and Steam is going to shutdown my access to my Steam games in about 30 days. After that, I won't have a good excuse to finish the review (not happy with pics of the overall sword...lighting and focus issues). I played Fallout 4 which is also good, but IMO Skyrim is better done. Doesn't have the obvious artificial fences of Fallout 4, the "you may not pass" boundaries which are done poorly. Probably should review my newest favorite Jkoo waki too. One I've finally got that has all I like in it. RinC

I did see a JKOO someone posted on reddit /katanas and is one of the few Ive seen with better kissaki geometry. apparently koiguchi fit wasn't that tight but I got bored last night and looked through what they had to offer last night since I was doing the rounds

Haha, whereas the kissaki geometry on my Jkoo wasn't good at all! I've almost finished correcting it though, I don't find there's any supplier that ever does really great kissakis (at least of the bare blades I have bought). Koiguchi fit is another one where it's pretty hit or miss, even from different pieces from the same manufacturer. I've had them so tight you struggle to get them off, but so far none that were too loose. It's the kind of thing that changes with environment though, so I could expect there's some parts of the world where they're always too loose.

was your Jkoo recent? It's definitely one reason I would stay away from them but I have preferred shobu, naginata naoshi, and unokubi ever since discovering them (went through an O kissaki phase before them).
just easier, dont have to worry about makers from China screwing the kissaki up in the first place

Yeah, just got it a few months ago. Not a big deal to me, since I can correct it, but I definitely find it hit or miss. Mine was shinogi zukuri.

My experience with jkoo was quite good. Blade was good, polish was good, ito super tight, kissaki good, saya too. Only problem, they wrapped the samegawa upside down. Not a problem since I changed the entire tsuka but that was quite a bugger.

i mean, i'm sure i could try to do it. and by that, i mean, i'm sure i could really semprini it up
yeah, i'm not sure I've ever seen someone get a piece and review with it without some issue. they might be out there and they just never post about it.
it doesn't really matter if you're gonna rework the tsuka but want to keep the fittings and save yourself from carving a new saya.

It still does tell their attention to details (or in this case general knowledge about stuff) is mediocre at best. Imagine this scenario: You want a full wrap samegawa (extra $) and also an upgraded one with oyatsubo (other extra $) and they put it upside down.

I do like my custom JKOO overall, especially considering I could build it to suit myself and at the price in which that could be done, but there are definitely areas where improvement could be made. Ill have a video review done soon.
