There’s never a need to justify buying or owning blades, we’re men, and men like things that they can stab and cut each other with 😉 Pick up the CS “katana” if you can. The width of the blade is close to 2!” I sharpened mine with one of those Accusharp things and it can cut like a mofo. The Condor machetes are meh’ and depending one which one you look at, like you said it could be pretty pricey. I bought their gladius and the edge geometry was way off. I think Devils Edge, and the taboo that is Deepeeka, have some decent cutters without breaking the bank. Hope that helps somewhat!

I bought a Condor Atrox machete/knife recently for 150€ and unfortunately I have to agree, the quality was not worth that price. I'd put it slightly above the CS machete, which only cost around 50€. The grind was uneven and the grip looked only to be half finished (very rough and faded colours). I got something I would not pay more than 50-100€. The paint looked good, but it just is a sharpened piece of flat stock steel with some cheapo micarta handles. VERY DISAPPOINTED! As for the CS Katana, I hate it. Feels like a cheap toy and not at all like a sword, so if I wanted something Katana shaped I'd add the 100€ to get something decent. It's also too long and unwieldy for me to use as a machete.
I have been looking at the Gladius, it's one of the few I like the look of, what exactly was wrong with it?

I have been looking at the Gladius, it's one of the few I like the look of, what exactly was wrong with it? Condor basically doubled their prices in the last several years. Ages ago I bought several different styles of large knives & machetes at really good sale prices, and they came with good, thick leather sheaths. They do offer styles that are hard to find elsewhere, but their popularity (and inflation, in general) jacked the prices up. I think they really specialize in the heavier, thicker machete type, and their offerings have exploded in number & variety. Joe Flowers has been busy.

Cold Steel & Condor offer a huge variety of sharp, stabby, choppy stuff in all manner of shapes & sizes.

I think we must be on the same wave length! I bought like six cs machete swords last summer from midway on sale. And all very useful for outdoor camping, gardening tasks. I mean, not like you'd actually bought them for mindlessly cutting stuff up or for defensive purposes.

Definitely not! They did NOT come out to play when it was time to put a half dozen jackolaterns to rest!
Pro tip...the cold steel chinese war sword will go through whatever is in front of it...including your pinic table/ cutting stand..
