Blade was forged on a custom sword project. Will post more as the project progresses. Blade is a XIIa at 95 cm.

for people who use bookface, the pictures are there. He is referring to the sword by his first name (Angus) instead of his last name (Loch Ness Monster) www.facebook.com/sulowskiart/

There are plenty of grave effigies in Scotland with what are single-handed swords (probably type XII) with the characteristically Scottish furniture. Although I couldn't find examples of Scottish XIIa swords, there is no reason they couldn't have existed.

Looks like a very good blade. Good to see a full tang and listening to Deep Purple.

arrived today
the balance is even better than I imagined. This is meant to be a 2-hander but is balanced well enough to be wielded in 1

This is beautiful, and it also looks a lot like the Irish swords!

Very nice. Type XII’s are among my favorites. The two hand version must be sublime!

I wanted a sword to be the "missing link" between all of the well-documented Scottish styled Type XII arming swords and the 15th Century 2-hand Claymore. So this is what I dreamed up, and after consultation with Damian he made this a reality.
There are other good XIIa options if the Scottish character wasn't important (Albion Baron, Vision Exeter), but that is what makes the Loch Ness Monster unique amongst the sea of XIIa swords. Best 55th birthday present I could have imagined.

I share your enthusiasm. I ordered an Albion Laird - basically the one hand version of your sword. I’m super excited for its arrival

I started with the Caithness, then added the DelTin Scottish Arming sword. After picking up the Caithness, I knew I needed a Laird (ordered in Mar 2023) to expand the family.
First emails about this project started in September 2022 and the sword arrived at the UPS hub down the street right at the end of October 2023.
