….that people who collect things, share, for lack of a better term, a “collectors gene”
So, apart from everything discussed on this forum, what other items do you collect?

You forgot memes. Thank you for sharing those, BTW.

I'm hunting memes but don't collect them. I forgot music, because there's not much good new stuff I know.

Organs (the musical instrument), tools, books, holy cards, knives, armour, belt buckles. I definitely think there is a collectors gene, my father has it too!

Sharp blades are good to have, if Shire-folk go walking, east, south, far away into dark and danger.

Comics, books, music (DVDs, CDs and sheet music), Pocket knives, my own artwork (unfortunately because I can't sell it). Used to collect guitars a bit, but downsizing these days.

Swords, knives, anime figures and merch, and beer, are where most of my money goes, with occasional dabbling in other things until the interest passes. I've had a few fountain pens, collected some interesting stones (lapis, labradorite, amethyst, etc) and a few hookah, but my primary cash drain is anime figures. Oh, I've also accumulated a significant amount of debt.

I have the world's largest collection of seashells. It's so large in fact that I store it scattered on beaches all over the world. Chances are you've probably seen part of it!

I used to collect instruments, but I ran out of room fast so I unloaded most of them over time. I like records and have even had made a few custom "mixtape" records with random songs from YouTube artists lol. I tried to collect figures but was pretty disappointed with the build quality of most of them so I dumped them all pretty fast. Last year I was pretty obsessed with art having real oil paintings made. Now I'm kinda into retro kitchen utensils/appliances.

Just throwing it out there, I collected a lot more when I was younger. Now at 57, I feel the need to build a savings, so spending $$$ on stuff that sits there and I can't take with me actually depresses me a bit and I feel guilty when I looks at it.

Alec Guinness character at the end of movie The Bridge On The River Kwai, "what have I done".
