Nice! Beautiful tsuba upgrade, and that wine colored ito is sharp! Yagoro's new one with that hamon looks nice too! I'm soon going to order one of their hitatsura hamon models - so fascinating! On a side note, I wonder if anyone has ordered Z-Sey's upgraded (custom fit) saya and found it was worth it?

Received it. Shared my thoughts in reviews Holy cow, that is one beautiful piece and your review was detail oriented and unbiased, very well written. I personally would love to see how well this slays a thick rolled piece of tatami. Zsey definitely deserves some praise for this.

Are they sending you pictures of the sword or are you asking for them. I bought a sword from them back in December and they quoted me two months. It’s almost 5. I emailed them over a month ago and they said they were just waiting on the saya to be painted.

On a sidenote, winter in Zhejiang just ended last month. Perhaps this caused a delay?

Got pics of it, they'll be shipping it out tomorrow Nice sword. i was going to get a custom one of those, but when it hit 2200usd i though, bit much! would have been an awesome looking sword though. its the 30% customization fee that gets me, i wanted to change to 77cm and width to 36mm 28mm.
still might get it:)

What steel did you use? And yeah, paying an extra 300-400 when you just want an extra inch of reach kinda blows lol, especially when you're paying the custom habaki/saya fee on top. I'm still hoping they will make a standard model with a beefier suguta for like 1300 or something. The touyaun XL or something lol

The touyaun XL or something lol same steel. just custom 299usd handmade saya 269, niku 150, custom habakki neeeded to change width motohaba, silk ito, 50 silk sukamaki 50. the 30% is a joke. at that [rice i was going to change to a diffrent sword for 2000 tamahanage then it 600 to change to the correct leinght then 150 to change the moto haba and another 269 for hand made saya.
I said thats getting abit much. i said to them so its 1500 to change the length on a 5000 sword and they said yes. i said that was a bit crazy and they said "why are you trying to break the rules" and then said they would cancel my order, so i did. its not like its actually tamahanage anyway. i bought an edo period from Japan for $2300 with Hozon paper. No i only by Nihinto as its not that much more.

Oof, yeah for me it was about 3000 for a 29 inch shobu with custom habaki/saya. I still might do it as I want a pretty steel piece and getting a folded blade from Rado will run about 5k now.

Yup, diamonds arent the most even, but tbh I don't really mind much as long as it isn't thaaat noticeable yeah they are the worsst i have seen from Zsey. i have noticed that since dragon sword started selling Z-sey swords the quality has gone down. i think they are not doing all there work anymore. I think they are paying a less qualified person from some where else to do some of the work now, or they trained someone up and they are not that good. That sword cost extra because it has a "Tsuka:Handmade Tsuka(Haichi Style)" so it should be perfect. Every one of my Zs have been but i have not bough any for a year.

Ok well its still the best tsukamaki ive seen on a production sword. Also keep in mind they had to redo my tsuka and I put them on a bit of a time crunch because I wanted the sword by an enbu in april(which they delivered on).

Personally, I feel like you're paying for a good fit on the nakago, not perfect tsukamaki. Expecting perfection at this price range seems a bit much, and I'm not sure we have nearly enough of a sample size to make claims about a change in maker or overall quality.

I received my Zsey with some custom options in about 3 months from order date. They're really responsive to emails though, so maybe reach out to them?
