I don't normally go for blue, but it works. In fact I love it. Beautiful sword. Beautiful scabbard. Beautiful integrated belt.

Copy & paste from Holger on FB: "My sword ordered from Purna is here; after a little more than two weeks. Amazing fast processing and delivery, and even more amazing work. Specifications are spot on as i ordered them! The 70 cm blade has heft and presence, though you almost dont feel any weight; balance is very good. It has a considerable yet not overacting distal taper (what i personally dont like), just about right: 8 mm at the guard, 6 mm at the "ricasso point", down to 4 mm at the "belly", and finally to around 3 mm right before the tip. The blade geometry is awesome too; it features a light hollow grind from the spine to where the edge grind begins; saves quite some weight, the sword is spot on 1260 g. The razor sharp edge itself shows no secondary bevels. 31 cm Handle (guard and pommel included). This thing is literally twitching, jerking in the hands and asks for WORK! Minor flaws: the screw-on pommel was loose when delivered; no big deal, the wooden grip scales are double pinned to the full tang and wrapped in leather, so some epoxy did the job. Some small pitting in the handsculpted and handcast brass parts, overall a lot of little glue residues peeking through the grip wrap. Wood core scabbard with leather wrap, brass tip and some nice pattern lines is included in the 500 USD commissioned price, as well as shipping to Germany was. I STRONGLY recommend the man!"

Just got this CS greatsword the other day. I’m still in awe of how big this thing is. Next to it is a CS hand & a half sword for scale

That’s a beauty. The CS sword is definitely way overbuilt just like all their other swords, but I have the tools & knowledge to fix that. I like training with the greatsword and then the hand & a half sword afterward. The hand & a half feels almost like a toy in comparison even though it’s a pretty big sword in its own right.

Yes, the fittings are all too massive, and the blade should be reprofiled. But i wouldnt say all their swords are overbuilt. The german longsword, the italian longsword, the Cinquedea and their competition cutter are spot on with the weight.

I was actually thinking of getting a competition cutter if I can find one for a decent price. Now that you say the weight is spot on I’m more interested

Now that you say the weight is spot on I’m more interested We tried it three times by now; fit & finish is much too lousy for a 350 to 400 Euro sword (in Germany). You see clearly that this is made by Windlass. For lets sa 250 to 280 it would be a decent sporting tool... its very thin, stiff, not wobbly. But i wouldnt dare to fight with against another blade. SO thin!

Oh wow I had no idea they were so expensive over there. The most I’ve ever spent on a Cold Steel is just under $300 for that greatsword.

Do they sell any at that price? I’m sure there are much better swords for far less money in Europe

Do they sell any at that price? I’m sure there are much better swords for far less money in Europe hmmm... not far less. But you will get a Viktor Berbekucz viking, sharp, tapered, with scabbard for short under 300 Euro. Same goes for a longsword. Regenyei goes a little higher, around 400 to 500, but super solid. My Rudolf Krutsky Gladius was 300 sharp & scabbard too. And then we have the Rafals, the Sulowskis, the Kopiuchs etc... basically we would not need neither CS nor Albion. Windlass is strange here... BIG differences in prices! Holger got his Ehrbach sword for 149 Euro; usually this is more towards 300! Lots of examples for this...

Almost forgot this one here: Kailash Blades "Mutiny" Khukuri; simply the best, lightest Khukuri i ever had in hand - and the most beautifull! Grabbed at Myarmoury, came in from here, from Germany!
