the revolver looks good, but would be even better with some wood grips (figured walnut for example) Yeah, the plastic is the only part I’m iffy about. I’m thinking of some sort of black wood or black horn myself for the grips but walnut would be pretty too.
Wood or stag grips just seem right for a SA revolver. I've seen some well done horn grips also.
I bought a board of Bird's Eye Maple to make a set of grips for my Wrangler Bird's Head grip revolver. I've cut the pieces to crude shape (oversized) and stabilized the wood with Cactus Juice. It will be another Spring/Summer project to work on.

I had a fellow carve a set of one piece walnut grips for mine to replace the bakelite that came on my Colt. It looked much better.

Used to reload a bunch of .45LC. Mostly for Rugers of varying barrel lengths up to 12", way back 45 years ago. Very versatile cartridge, from 3g bullseye to 12 g Blue Dot for easy practice to close to .44 mag power. Consistent grip pressure a key to excellent accuracy to beyond 130 yards, much better than 357, 41, or 44.

As much as I like .45s I believe the .357 more versatile. I remember shooting a snake out of the rafters, I had no ceiling, with a 45 FMJ and having it bounce off the wood and through the roof. The next I was patching the roof. I after that carried my Colt New Frontier loaded with shot. That was back in the old days before CCI came out with their commercial load. Never did use those. My load was ? gr of Bullseye, the #9 shot enclosed in a 000 capsule to prevent leading, sandwiched between a gas check at both ends. Got many a snake with that load. It really shinned when shooting snakes indoors, and there were several, as it did only a little damage to the house. Many times something less than max power is better. The beauty of hand loading, amongst other things, is that you can tune the load to whatever, accuracy, availability, economy, power or the lack of, etc.

…Got many a snake with that load. It really shinned when shooting snakes indoors, and there were several, as it did only a little damage to the house... 😮 I had a snake infestation problem. They would be in the fire place, corner, mantel, in the rafter as mentioned. I about stepped on one as I entered my house. My biggest concern was one crawling in the sack me at night to keep warm. It’s been known to happen. The house was isolated; the nearest neighbour I think was 5 miles distance. One day I had a contractor come out to do some work that was beyond me, mainly cement work including plugging a hole at the base of the chimney that the snakes were using. It was about 1500 as I remember when finished and putting his tools in his truck when I heard him call out. I wheeled to see what had him so excited and there was a snake in top gear going from the wood’s edge to the now non-existent hole. As he was not only out of range the contractor was between us so I closed. When just in range the snake saw me and stopped dead in his tracks making him an easy target. I let three fly as I remember, the impact of shot is not detactable in grass and because of the extreme range, the snake never moved again. Now the contractor, who obviously had a phobia with snakes became macho and wanted to carry the snake back as a trophy and asked me to put it in the truck, in the cab nonetheless. Why not? Macho man had now composed himself and I obliged. On the way back while passing through a city in the 5’oclock traffic the snake came to life. I cracked up at his story and would have given anything to have witnessed that, even the proverbial left nut. That must have been hilarious beyond words.

Safety disclaimer: in this video I am using .45 long colt snap caps that I had already heavily tested for safety. There was a zero percent chance of it firing. Even still, I made sure nobody and nothing was in the way. It was as safe as a real firearm can be. We also had 70 mile per hour wind gusts today so that’s why the wind is so loud and strong in the video. It made my duster billow and look epic though, so I didn’t mind lol! The sights are very good on the revolver, with a good sight radius and clear view for quick but relatively precise aiming.

Also, other than the coloration and lack of fluting on my cylinder, my SAA is the same as Yul Brynner’s Artillery SAA from The Magnificent Seven, which is awesome. The irony is I had buzzed my head very shortly before getting the stock alert that my gun store had it in. I didn’t even think about that until yesterday too, and realized I had a pic of me that almost matched a pic from the movie.

So I can’t get over how utterly cool the revolver is. First, I know it’s a lethal weapon and not a toy, but dang does it make this five foot five nerd feel like a real tough guy lol! Attachments:

If they ever remake Westworld again, you can be one of the extras sprawled dead over a saloon table, or something.

Maybe audition for a part in “The Gunfighter”, a favourite of mine, if the ever do a remake. I’ve posted it here before but here it is again if you missed it. As the video goes: In a small town in the old west, a lone and weary gunfighter enters a saloon. As he walks through the room surrounded by the people of the town, a voice begins narrating the scene, telling us exactly who this gunfighter is. But unlike every classic western to use the narrator trope, the characters in this film can hear the voice.

Ha yes! I’d absolutely love to be an extra in a western of any kind, be it a Wild West Western or something more modern like Hell or High Water or Yellowstone. I say extra because I’m an absolutely terrible actor lol.

Picked up a leather OWB thumb strap retention holster and while it’s still breaking in, it feels much better quality than the cheap fast holster I had been using before. It also goes with a variety of looks!

Very nice find indeed, congrats! S/A revolvers are a bit hard to find these days, at least in my neck of the woods.
Ammo Seek is a good source for finding pretty much any ammo. It's how I kept supplied during the ammo crunch the last couple of years.

S/A revolvers are also super rare in south Texas right now too, which is why it was super fortunate I found one at my favorite gun store that I could handle myself and see if I liked it before buying.

Gonna be a bit more until I actually shoot it, but I’m practicing stances and actions with snap caps. I’m trying a grip position with the off hand operating the action, while the off index finger rests on the front of the trigger guard and the grip hand thumb rests on the left side of the back of the frame behind the cylinder. Attempting a “fighters stance” here, but could definitely improve.

Now it's time to upgrade to the Walker! I’m looking at an 1860 8” barrel in .45 long colt or a S&W Model 10 in .38 special for now, but a walker would be my first choice for a black powder pistol. Thought they were super neat ever since reading Blood Meridian.

How many "clicks"? Three or four? Four. Nice. Always remember to carry the loaded gun with 5 rounds and the hammer lowered on an empty chamber...
