Actually, the initial credit should go to the member vedearduff who was the first to bring it to the staff's attention through PM on the 12th of September. Then the mods began looking for a solution, and Paul figured out how to stop it.
So thanks to vedearduff for being an upstanding member, +1 karma from me.

Well, anyone with any computer knowledge or familiarity with proboards in general can figure out how to still smite. When the smite button was removed I posted that it was still possible to smite and even told Daniel Sin how it was possible.
I just tested it out now and yes, you still can smite. Though there's no way around stopping it really. Only choice is to either deal with it, or remove Karma altogether. Its possible to grab a Karma script from a site like SSD and just modify it to remove the ability to karma altogether in the code. Not sure if it would have to come to that.
Kinda sad though that people still feel the need to smite people on a message board for such petty things. Oh well, thats life I guess.

As I´m not overly fond of it it was a rather easy choice for me to opt it out. Thanks for that option.

Weve found out smiting member *images of yelling mob at witch trials*
I know that loophole too, though anyone abusing it is really pushing the limits, there was an argument when the button was there, but to sneak around the script is a bit different...

I like to reserve my smiting for in person encounters. It's no fun if there isn't a possibility of receiving a bloody nose myself. ![:)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I am indeed, Jesse. I'm don't really like violence. If everyone felt that way, they would be none.
