Debbie, there is 4/4 x 6' curly maple available here 0.o I considered grabbing a piece the other day. I may yet
Purleheart and Zebrawood are also plentiful at the moment, as are goncalo alves, koa, bubinga, morado, wenge, imbuya, lacewood, bocote, and more.
I picked up a plank of Wenge, one of lacewood, and another nice piece of Cocobolo the other day. I am working on a bocote scabbard (just getting started, been sick this week) for one of my swords as a prototype. We'll see how that one comes out. Time to expirement a little.
Anyway, I don't want to talk it to death, so I'm going to get to it. Hopefully I'll have something to post by the end of the week.

Rosewood does look good, but I said it as a joke since the dust is toxic and can causes a very severe alergic reaction. There have been people who found this out the hard way when they started sanding their rosewood guitar fretboards.

There have been people who found this out the hard way when they started sanding their rosewood guitar fretboards. I wear a dustmask and glasses when cutting and sanding, which eliminates the problem. Cocobolo and wenge are in the rosewood family, and the sawdust is downright evil if it gets in your eyes or throat, but otherwise isn't a big deal. The finished product is completely safe.

Just finished another scabbard. This one is bocote,an oddly figured piece I picked up at the woodstore. I wasn't sure how it would turn out, so I was pleasantly suprised . I'm still thinking of darkening it, there's no stain on it yet. The chape was scavenged from the leather scabbard that came with the sword. This is a windlass Towton btw. Something I've noticed on Windlass swords, the guard isn't necessarily centered perfectly, or symmetrical. Fitting the scabbard throat to the guard on this sword meant there is only one way for the sword to go in. The B side: There were more flaws in this plank. Not really something I'd send out. I left off the flat piece of felt I usually glue over the mouth so you could see the a cross-section of this one.

That is some REALLY NICE work, Maz. Very impressive. I've never been a big fan of bocote for pistol grips and such. But it makes a nice scabbard. I might even like the look of that one more than my favorite, cocobolo.
