Hanwei Tinker Bastard Sword with Fuller... Give it a look. Better than the 3 you are looking at...

Hanwei Tinker Bastard is good. But... I had three of these (still have one): www.schwertshop.de/anderthalbhaenderschwert-von-calenberg-kaufen.htmlVery tough with good temper, well made, very good handling. Great performance. Tested one of mines during hard cutting (hanging log of fir wood), and another one with medium cutting (rolled newspaper wrapped in clothes). Excellent value and a good simple, reliable sword. Similar to the RK#7, most probably the same sword.

I think Thorfinn’s and Mark’s suggestion is a better choice than what you are looking at. Otherwise consider a Windlass Agincourt.

I also endorse checking out the Hanwei/Tinker line. Windlass is fine, but their swords often don't feel right to me. All the swords I've bought from them I have quickly sold. As an owner of a United Cutlery product I would recommend steering clear of them. And I have no opinion on Legacy Arms, other than a lot of their stuff looks ugly to me.

Going by past experience you already have your mind set on one of these three so I won't suggest another one. What I will say is the United Cutlery is out because rubber handles are for machetes not longswords. The Windlass looks to gothic fantasy for my taste so that narrows it down to the Legacy Arms. It's your money we all made our mistakes in the beginning.

I need a little advice for my first sword purchase (Christmas present from me, to me). Here's my recommendation: Balaur Arms - 15th Century Italian LongswordShould be available in a month or two. Though it may not be available in Europe (without international shipping). But it's gotten rave reviews on this site, and is well within your budget.

yojirexYou misunderstood this. I revered to the company Ronin Katana, not the Japanese Swords Katana.

And from what i heard importing of swords is not as easy as it was.

Oops sorry about that, I didnt know Ronin Katana made other swords as well. Either way, I am from Germany too and I talked to the customs department about it. According to them, there should be no issues. The import cost here isnt that high either right now. For my 530€ blade it will be roughly 95€ import tax according to the customs department.

If you don't mind the lack of belt, the Schwertshop (Germany) apparently offers the same sword as the Ronin Katana Euro Model 7. It is also available with Folded Steel blade. Do be careful about shipping times though. Best to ask them whether they have it in stock/availability. With Covid, the estimated times might be quite longer than expected.

Yeah, I saw that one too, seems strange that it is so similar to the Ronin Katana #7.
The funny thing is, that the shop claims that it takes 6-8 weeks for "the smith to build the sword".
It seems to be a complete coincidence that this is the same amount of time my orders from china take and that there is the same sword in a chinese store on aliexpress:
And the other thing is, that the store has also swords in stock that look exactly like the:
Ronin Katana One Handed Viking Sword #11 (only difference is a blunt blade)
and
Ronin Katana Euro #9 Arming Sword (different handle wrap and two buckles on the sheath)
I certainly will not claim that the Chinese store is the supplier of the Ronin Katana Swords, but there are (in my mind) only two possibilities:
RK is selling (well made) Chinese swords and hides the fact or someone in China has copied RK homework:P

Ronin Katana uses blades forged in Lonquan, China. I'm not aware of them ever claiming otherwise.

China's been making swords for thousands of years. There's value to be found from their forges.
The only reason I haven't bought a Ronin Katana yet (a European model) is I haven't read enough rave reviews on SBG to convince me they're the best. The reviews on SBG for RK are certainly there, and they are good. They're good already and getting better - but other vendors have them beat at the moment.
I'm no expert. This is strictly based on what I've read on this board.
Balaur Arms for example.

Okay, thank you all for the input. Damn, instead of easier, this now got a lot harder, there are too many options.
