Ok. If they are hot spicy I couldn’t handle them. If I could see them maybe not. Looks like they left the legs on and I don’t see the reason for that. In general, no. In a survival situation and hungry enough then yes. Hell, in that case I would eat long pig to survive. Wouldn’t want to and I’d have to have nothing else I could catch.

...and longpig brings us full circle to Wendigo...
On a serious note, its amazing what becomes palatable to our modern western sensibilities if we are properly motivated. Theres a surprising abundance of protein out there to the unsqueemish.
The second rat gets the cheese: brings to mind spring cleaning at the cabin. Mouse in the trap but he had obviously been knawed on by friends or relatives...can mice be wendigo?
Circles, always circles

When hungry enough, anything can be food.

Had them. Love them. Just have to season correctly and make them crunchy.

The ones I had weren't spicy or perhaps my tolerance is high enough I didn't detect it. They were the Salt and Lemon variety. And they didn't have legs. I think it just depends on who is preparing them. Salt and f’ing vinegar!?! Do they have bbq. If so I’m in!

Ouroboros, love the way you brought it back to the Wendigo. I didn’t even think of that and as I said on that thread, that is my favorite. Considering making it my screen wallpaper. With Brother Nathaniels permission of course.
Edit: spelling

I think insects can/should make a fine source of future protein for the planet. I guess how they are prepared and added to diet is the key.

It’s been predicted that insects will play a large part of our diet due to their high protein value as our regular food supplies becomes exhausted at some point in the future. As for hot/specie, that depends how they are cooked. The girls used lemon, and I think she said there was sugar in the lemon juice, and salt, not spicy but tasty. Salt and lime go to together. She said lemon but what we call lemon, regardless of type Americans call lime if green in colour. I used salt and a lime in my supper beer tonight. The reason the legs were there is it’s faster and easier to prepare. I question eating as survival food as someone suggested. One might spend more energy collecting those little fellows than gained. That’s been my experience in survival training. If eaten as survival food best done at home or a permanent camp rather than carry the mess the girls used to the field. That or roast and not fry. Then there is boiled (requires water) or raw. Thanks for the video.

I will try anything, as long as it is not actively dangerous to consume. I've eaten earthworms out of a styrofoam bait carton, live crickets, wood lice, meal worms, grasshoppers, chocolate covered ants, and a brown recluse off of a web line in a friends basement (I was an idiot adolescent for most of these events, and was primarily motivated by getting a reaction from my also idiotic friends). I've prepared and eaten most mammalian organs (never brains, and have not eaten reproductive organs, but I am not averse to ever trying them if prepared in a delicious manner).

If someone battered and deep fried these, then made lemon pepper-wet sauce, I would prolly even pay for em. Wouldn't pay a lot tho as they are bugs

In a few generations, any bias against arthropod protein will be a historical footnote.

I did like how no one had to ask what long pig was. I only learned that name about 6-7 years ago watching a show called ‘Supernatural’

Soylent Green rocks! Saw it in the theater when I was in high school. How naive, or stupid, both were valid, I didn’t get it until he said it. Oh the innocence (read stupidity) of my youth. Thanks for the reference. You just made my night.

Bird eats worm, man eats bird, worm eats man, that's the cycle of life. But if man starts to eat worm, what's the result?

With a rain of pissed worms just trying to eat the birds! That sounds like 2020, yeah!
