USPS, California -> Poland, Priority Mail International. I shipped it just about a month ago, and no tracking updates for 3 weeks. Hoping it's not lost, but did file a request for a search. Our VA Warder to "Ghost" took almost exactly THREE MONTHS - and no updates between November 21st 2020 and February 18th 2021 or so!

Hi Everyone Has anyone based in the Netherlands successfully imported swords that were purchased online? I would like to order an Albion, but I see similar restrictions, e.g. apparently one needs a weapons import permit - does anyone have experience with this? You sure about the restrictions? There are lots of sword shops in Netherlands... I assume they have import permits... The information available online is unclear or contradictory, e.g. the tax authority website says the importation of real or fake weapons are restricted, while the customs twitter account indicated to a prospective weekend samurai that it's perfectly fine to bring in a functional katana from Japan, no permit required. In general, it seems the Dutch are very risk averse, and the average Joe over here places swords in the same category as firearms ("are you crazy, what do you need a sword for?!"), so my concern is that a nervous customs official may confiscate my sword if I import it directly instead of using an "authorized" distributor.

FYI - Ordered a kukri from GGK (Nepal) on 2/13/21 and it arrived today (2/24/21) in Minnesota via DHS. It wasn't scheduled to arrive until March so it was a pleasant surprise. I thought maybe there was a U.S. distributer but it looks like it shipped from Katmandu.

Your situation sounds fairly similar to mine. Where I am swords are classified as a prohibited import and in the same category as firearms when coming from overseas (even though they aren't listed as a prohibited import on the official border force website which they said needed to be updated).
I recently purchased a RK Euro #4 and in my case I had to ring up the local police firearms department and they explained that I first needed to fill out and submit an application for a prohibited import.

I don’t know about other countries, this is strictly a stab in the dark and maybe it will work for those in sword restricted countries. Mine also restricts swords but there is a clause in the law that excludes replicas. Ticos are arbitrary sometimes my importer gives me a hard time and at others the sword zips right through, but they have always come through. When declaring what’s in the package I state that’s “it’s a copy of...” or “a replica of a...”. I hope that helps.

That sounds like someone has given you the wrong information, swords are neither prohibited nor restricted imports into Australia. I've never had any issues with importing swords. I'm not sure about sword ownership in WA but given the police didn't say anything about needing a permit I'd say it's not a problem. Hope you get your sword soon.

Oh, that is possible considering I am quite new to this and haven't imported a sword before. In the past I have purchased movie replicas from over east from Global Gear iirc with no problems but considering this one is real I wanted to be more cautious. Hopefully it does arrive soon because its via USPS and from what people have said here it seems they are having troubles.

The sword arrived a month to the day via USPS from US to AUS and iirc spent roughly equal amount of time between travelling to AUS and me receiving it. The box had a few hits but thankfully the sword was all good

Thanks for the update. When you say the seller did a fair bit of "chassing," what did they have to do? Also, is that a misspelling of "chasing," or is this UK slang I haven't heard before?
