Here's a dagger I purchased recently, back in April. A stiletto dagger from Tod Cutler. I decided I could afford to treat myself, as this was so competitively priced, and I really loved the look of it, I couldn't resist. It's such a beautiful piece, & so elegant. One could understand why many a gentleman would want to carry one of these on his belt. Based on a 17th Century design, it comes with a lovely leather sheath, with belt loop, & brass chape on the end. The dagger fits nicely in the sheath, which holds it firmly, but allows you to draw it quickly. The blade is triangular in section and goes to a point. When I received it, the point was just off sharp, so I gave it a final hone with a small diamond file & fine stone, & now it's wicked sharp. My only complaint is, the belt loop is set up to be worn on the left side only, as I'm one of these bloody awkward left handers, I'd like to be able to hang it on my right side. Possibly a future project would be to see if I can convert it somehow, by using leather cords in some way. Apart from that, I'm really happy with my moneys worth, and I'd highly recommend it. A nice addition to my collection. Dagger Specs: Blade length:10 inches – 25.5cm Handle length: 3 & three quarter inches – 9.5cm Across guard: 2 & a quarter inches – 58cm Total length: 14 & one eighth inches – 36cm POB: 3-4mm in front of the guard on the ricasso. Weight: 176 grams

That is an attractive dagger, but don’t you think after seven posts you stop calling yourself Visitor. Get a name. By this time “Visitor” is a turnoff. Let visitor be reserved for a true visitor.

Looking at that last picture with the sheath it looks like it could be worn on the right side. If there is unsightly stitching and a seam it looks like you may be able to cut the present stitching, turn it around and restitch it.

You could also just wear it on the left further to the back of the belt, to be drawn with your left hand, similar to what Tod demonstrates with the off-hand dagger here.

Thanks for the input paulmuaddib and MOK. If I had a brain I'd be dangerous! You've given me an idea to work with.
Dave.

I've now sorted the sheath, and converted it to be hung on the right side. It proved quite straight forward, using a new Stanley knife blade; I carefully unpicked the threads, then removed the belt loop, turned it around, re glued with UHU, and clamped in place, then restitched. Job done.
Dave.

Very cool dude. You never know what you can do until you try. And asking for ideas has gotten me through a few situations. Anyway, good job.

That's what I would have done. I learned to work with leather, amongst others, out of necessity as Paul mentioned. I'm not great at it but my work is passable and more importantly functional. Glad that you were able to get it done.

Sharp blades are good to have, if Shire-folk go walking, east, south, far away into dark and danger.

What's the construction like? Is it all one piece of metal or is it full tang peened, etc.? Does he mention what kind of steel he uses? I'm guessing the edge isn't sharp because it's a pokey dagger not a slashy dagger?

Pretty sure Tod's stiletto is not a one piece construction and it's peened. The edges aren't meant to be sharp. It's purely used to stab people to death and make nasty wounds that are difficult to treat medically. It's a beautiful and horrible object.

Well, stabbing people to death sounds like the way to go, so I ordered one. Are there any customs fees or anything I should know about since I'm in Florida?

Have you ever been to Florida...RURAL Florida? I definitely take your point, but please kill rural Florida water bottles or melons with your stiletto. Let mother nature deal with the rest.

Oh please. I'm a lover not a fighter, and a lover of sharp pointy objects especially. Darwin will sort out the rural inbred population.

That is a pretty dagger, elegant and sleek. Seems a reasonable price.

Beautiful little sticker! I love Tod Cutler. I have a Bowie that is in my top 10 of my knife collection. Simple and sweet.
Congrats!

Customs charges normally do not kick in until over $800 or so. A few items I have ordered from Tod's Workshop over that amount have had custom charges coming into the USA. I have not paid any customs charges for anything I have ordered from Tod Cutler or Tods workshop that was under $800
